I had a chat session with an Apple Rep this morning and it was stated to me that anyone that orders a MBP before 10/26 will have tiger pre-installed and have the option of a free upgrade to Leopard. But if you order it on 10/26 you will get it with leopard pre-installed.

"If you buy a qualifying Mac between October 1, 2007 and December 29, 2007, and it does not include Mac OS X Leopard, youre eligible to get Leopard after its released for just $9.95 plus tax."
I still need to pay 10 bucks if I order the MBP now and get a Tiger? Are you sure about the free upgrade?
Anyway I really dont wanna mess with reinstalling the OS again..I shall just wait til Oct. 26 I guess

Don't forget the added advantage of owning a licensed copy of both Tiger AND Leopard for only $10. If 10.5 is buggy, you could always revert to Tiger and wait for the 10.5.1 update.
becuase leopard isnt released until the 26th, so it dosent matter when its built, if you buy it before the 26 leopard dosent exist and therefore cant be install on your notebook
just buy it now, its better to reinstall the OS after you get it anyway to remove the extra languages and printer drivers
I already have like 3 Tiger copies ... 1 from previous MBP 2 from developer's connection -_-
if I get a laptop the first thing I do is to customize and install bunch of stuff and do bunch of settings ... wouldn't want to bother do all these over again or sitting with it doing nothing

it should just upgrade without any problem too
I don't think Apple has an upgrade edition of Leopard. But you do get the option of upgrading when you pop the DVD in or a fresh install. Therefore if you setup your preferences and don't want to do them over, you could opt for the upgrade although a fresh install is the way to go.
so how exactly do I go about getting leopard, i'm guessing go to the apple store with my receipt?
No. You will fill out a form online and fax them your receipt, and they will ship it to you in the mail.
Let me be more specific:
There should be no performance on a brand new machine loaded with Tiger upgrading to Leopard.
If it was a 2 year old machine, and then upgraded without formatting the drive, then that would be a different story.

I had a chat with salesperson online and learnt that if u order after the release of Leopard, u might still get Tiger installed in ur system, but the Leopard disk will be included in the box (no need to pay for the $9.95 shipping that is)
