In case anyone cares, ha. I've been reading about Google Sync and thought I'd give it a try. I deleted all of my gmail and mac email accounts from my iPhone and iPad, along with all contacts and calendars. Then I re-added Gmail through Exchange on both devices. I hooked up my fiance with her own Google Calendar then shared mine and hers together. I synced all of this through both devices and her iPhone, all in about 30 minutes.

My Mobile Me account expires in 7 days. I've had it for two years and only really liked the over the air sync options. Since Goolge now does this for free, I don't see why I need to keep paying for it through Apple.

I don't use enough online storage to justify keeping it. I guess the only thing I'm missing is find my iDevice. Maybe there is a 3rd party app for that?

As you've stated you already will loose "find my iDevice" with your wife included so if its stolen THATS IT!

Some things to consider:
* as already mentioned Google services seem to be free; but not forever and it costs you somehow someway (marketing, storing all kinds of data about you and when they're hurting they'll sell your information & all communications for a hot dollar; I loathe the day where this happens and HBO's get null & void for medications and hospitalization cause someone was drinking on a night out or walked to the store when they should've been at home motionless).
* Forward all your mobile me emails to your GMAIL services and send out notifications to those important to you.
* archive your iDisk, iCal, etc.
* any iWeb pages; you'll want to export those to a hosted service if you haven't thought of this already.

I'm heavily considering MobileMe beyond the trial.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 4: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)

I just started to use a Mac and MM integrates really nice with the native Mac Apps.

You can keep using MobileMe without paying. Just sign up for a trial every two months. You will just have to have a different email address every time.

The only thing I think you don't get are the aliases. I think everything else works.

I think Gmail is a fantastic mail service and with Google Exchange it works flawlessly with the iphone. For sure all my emails, contacts and calendars are "in the clouds" but hey whatever this is how things go on nowadays.

I just switched my company email to Google as well, they offer such a good service with a backup etc I really trust them.

Not worth the time and effort to switch from MM. Been a user for years and it costs less than 6 bucks a month.
