One year ago today I purchased the last of the fabled Powerbook revisions.
Last night, after cradling my precious 15" PB like a baby for 12 months, I tripped over the cord and sent the machine flying .
The damage is largely cosmetic. A dent on the right top corner, a big dent around the power adapter, and worst of all the LCD screen has shifted so it no longer closes right.
The machine still works flawlessly. All internal components are fast as ever. All data was preserved. Naturally, I've taken the opportunity to back up my hardrive.
So now I'm going to do homemade surgery and see if I can bend the "neck" (thing that rotates the LCD to open and shut) so that I can close the LCD once more.
Now that I've shared with all of you this sob story of my idiocy, I'll also mention that my intentions were to switch to the MBP when the next revision comes out.
However, now I've banged up my PB pretty bad, I'm curious if you sagely experts could give me your best guess for what its resale value now is?
To recap:
-- Dent on right corner
-- Big dent by AC power panel
-- LCD out of alignment (hopefully fixable)
-- Scratches on top and bottom, noticable but not "horrible"
-- PB itself functions fine. No abnormalities
-- Latest rev 15" PB with 1.5 gigs of ram.
Any input would be great.
