But now it has evolved that they are going to be sold a local outlets such as PC world, currys etc.
Firstly, will the prices be the same (I'm guessing so) and will they sell accessories as well?
My local Apple store is a 30 mile round trip, pay for parking etc, whereas local PC world is a 2 mile round trip.
What's everyone else doing?
:)

Edit: Location updated :D

Ive heard PC World and Currys arent getting it, the only people that will be getting it for launch weekend will be apple retails stores, apple premium resellers, apple store in stores such as pc world bristol cribbs causeway and store in stores in comet. Currys wont be getting it for a long while:)

I'm not sure when IPad's are supposedly going to be sold at other stores besides Apple stores & Best Buys, but it maybe awhile. If you're wanting one now, or reasonably soon, the Apple store is your best bet.

Only thing I'd seen about IPads being sold elsewhere is that Wal Mart was hoping to start selling them by XMas time.

If some place is going to sell IPads, they will be selling the basic accessories, especially the official ones. The greater selection of accessories is to be found online. Checking the accessories forum will give you an idea of what is available and what people think of them.

I hav just called a PC world branch and they confirmed they will be stocking them on the 28th. Just couldn't give me any more info than that

The OP ain't from around here....

yes DSGi are selling them, but not in every store- i mentioned those stores above that are selling them :D

They'll be everywhere soon. I saw ipads for sale at a rinky dink independent electronics store a few days ago in NY. I don't know how they got them. Lol

Yeah I don't think anyone that is not apple certified will be getting them for at least 6+ months after demand has gone down

Apple wants to pocket all the profits from the first big rush

Indeed, plus they want the product to be sold and positioned correctly to customers, they dont need some die hard Windows fan telling customers how bad the iPad is because of Flash etc, they need to be sold on the benifits. I can already hear the PCW staff doing what they used to do, "Its great, but it cant do this but why dont you buy this other product that I have got in stock and is another £100 more."

Just a cautionary note based on U.S. experience at Best Buy. BB, of course, was the only non-Apple chain to sell both iPad models on their respective launch days. On average, they had about 30 WiFi (10 each size) units to sell and 10 total 3G units (mix of 32 and 64, no 16). So even while they technically sold them, they did not have a huge number available. OTOH each Apple store had hundreds of most models. The only model really in short supply was the 16GB 3G.

Yeh, I might play it safe and go Apple anyway.

I only want the 16GB Wifi + Case, so I know I'll be safe if I go to brum to get one. Probably better atmosphere as well :D

I mentioned about the Apple store and other places to get it, as I thought for now most american can just pop to the local shop and get one as easy as a pound of spuds

:p

I'd liken buying from pc world to selling your soul to the devil. I'd say Apple store is your best bet due to stock, but also because I'd imagine their refund policy, etc would be more lenient than pc worlds.

Nope not that easy, I called the 3 local apple stores and 4 best buys around here and have ended up on the reserve list at the closest apple store since last Monday. None have any in stock, the closest apple store has all that come in going to their reserve list and Best Buy have had no deliveries at all this week.

The local store think i should get my 64Gb Wifi only one maybe tomorrow or Tuesday.

And i'm just down the road from apple HQ

Why do you say that? Won't the entry level iPads be the ones that go first?

ha ha so true........

will they know what flash is though??? theyd surely be more like "this has some stuff missing innit, buy dis one, its fasterer and besterer"

Pretty much. The 16gb IPads have been in the greatest demand, with the 64gb being the 'easiest' to get. Thinking being, that it is due to price. Though with the positive press the IPad has been getting, seems like any IPad is now hard to get.

I would just order online and get it delivered to your door. Why would anyone go through the hassle of shopping the old fashion way for this?
