I originally was on the fence, but after reading and seeing reviews and coverage the last 12 hours, I've been sold on the iPad. Checking out the apps that will come out really did it for me as well. Now, I had already reserved the 16gb wifi for Saturday at my local Apple Store..Question is, should I get it Saturday or should I just pre-order the 32gb and wait to get it in two weeks? I do plan on syncing some photos, but no music since I have my ipod for that and no movies really. Just apps. I would like to have extra space to have because I am going to be getting the camera kit for those times while on vacation and I need it, but they won't be on there long term.

Tough question. I suppose it probably works like the iphone does where you can easily remove and add apps back as you need them. Only my guess though.....

yea you are probably right. i did look at the apps available now that i want and the biggest one was Pages at 33mb. Everything else was under 10mb.

32gb is the sweet spot for me. Like you, I likely will not sync much music on my iPad, which takes up the majority of space on my iPhone. So, 32gb is plenty for the movies, tv shows, apps, and content that I will put on it. Movies and TV shows will rotate on and off depending on what I will be watching.

Get/Sell/Rebuy...

You 'could' pick up the one Saturday...sell it on Ebay (probably 10 minutes after you list it) for say..$50 over the purchase price. Get paid by paypal and ship it on Monday. That would allow you to order the 32g on Tuesday.

:)

good idea, except that new ipads won't ship until 'by April 12'.

Since you created the post, and I'm sure MR will see several of these over the next few weeks/months. I'll ask you a couple questions about your decision.

My question is this, what did you learn in the past 12 hours that wasn't really shown in the Keynote or discussed to death on the various tech blogs?

The reason I ask is simple curiosity. I read alot of tech blogs so nothing I have seen in the reviews has really surprised me much and the latest news about say the Netflix app was always something I had hoped would come down the road but wasn't a sole reason to buy or not buy the iPad. Mostly just curious how a couple reviews about information that's been out for a few months made a change in someone's mindset.

After ebay and paypal fees and tax you paid, you would loose money.

That's why I said "...sell it for say $50 over list..." to make up the difference.

And..yeah...the new ones are coming out the 12th....I don't know of any way you could get a 32gig faster unless you ordered it that way. If you have an 'in-store pickup' you could try going in early and asking if you could upgrade for one of them that wasn't reserved (good luck but worth a shot).

I didn't really 'learn' anything new. I knew about the apps, I knew about the web browsing, etc. But I guess I just needed to see it in a non-Apple keynote demo in order to like it more. The reviews have made me excited just because I like the iPad coverage, but what really sold me on it are all the application announcements. MLB At Bat looks awesome, Weather apps look great. The apps for this are much higher quality than iPhone or iPod Touch apps. I thought it was just a big iPod Touch, but really, while it's a big iPod Touch, the developer's and Apple can do so much more with the screen now. That is something we always knew, but until you actually see it, it's a different story.

I always told myself that I'll buy the iPad when I see high quality iPad-only apps that I think are worth it. I didn't think I'd see that until summer, but I see that now.

That's what I'm going to do. I have it reserved, so I'll go down there and ask if I can upgrade to the 32gb model. They might let me, you never know. If not, I save $100 ;-)

just talked to my apple store and they said that I can upgrade to a different model day of, they just can't change the reservation. Sounds like they'll be having plenty of extra.
