That's what true tone is for. Cooler is not more natural than warmer. Not when the actual color is more blue than yellow.

Ironically, I don't like Night Shift so much. True Tone I like because it factors in ambient lighting. The problem with Night Shift is that it doesn't. It's kind of a best guess, which always seems to be a bit off to me. You can adjust for it, but in the end I just keep it turned off. But I like True Tone. I do find it does lean towards the warm somewhat, but nonetheless it's overall quite pleasing, whether in high or low ambient lighting.Yeah, but I do most of my reading in very dark rooms at night. So the yellow tone I find a lot more pleasant to read for hours and hours on - probably why I'm a big fan. I love nightshift too. I also prefer a dark office, so may be because of that.
At first I thought it was too yellow, but a friend told me to stick with it for a week and then turn it off. Turning it off showed me that I dont want to live without it. Everything went from a nice warm tone to bright blue, which was harder on my eyes. On my 2017 iPad that didnt have TT, I had to use Night Mode to achieve something similar, but as you said it doesn't automatically adjust. So it's going to be nice for me to get the Air when it comes out to get real TT again.Ironically, I don't like Night Shift so much. True Tone I like because it factors in ambient lighting. Ideal would be a True Tone with an adjustment slider (like Night Shift has) but overall it's well implemented.

ProMotion makes scrolling in Safari sooooo much smoother. It’s not an absolutely critical feature but it looks much, much better.I think much of this difference in viewpoints here may have to do with how you use your iPad. For me, it's mostly an information and comminication device rather than for entertainment. If movies, TV shows, YouTube, etc., are the main (or key) drivers, I can see how Promotion, True Tone, 120hz refresh, 4 speakers, etc. might be a must. Personally, I'd rather use the TV and good HiFi system for that. But if you travel and want to be entertained, then yes.

However, if you have not seen it before, you would not know what you are missing.
Also, True Tone makes the screen more pleasant for surfing in low indoor ambient lighting.

I dunno why but I've noticed I get more frequent migraines when using the iPads with non-laminated displays (Air, 5th gen) than those with laminated (Air 2, Pro 9.7).My previous iPad was a Mini 4. The laminated display certainly is nicer, but I don’t find that not having one feels like a great loss to me, but that’s just me.

True Tone doesn't seem to have much effect on it though (I've already got Night Shift on 24/7).
Lol, I have computer glasses that filter blue light for when I'm using desktops and laptops or watching TV (so yep, yellowish hue). It has helped reduce my migraine attacks. True Tone on top of Night Shift doesn't appear to help much, though.Night Shift 24/7? I couldn't handle that. Might as well coat the display in yellow cellophane.
