So is the iSight camera actually good for anything?

My kids (2 and 5) love PhotoBooth and it has come in handy for sending a quick pic of the kiddies to Grandma that they can take themselves.
There are also things like Delicious Library that can make use of the iSight.

You mean photobooth doesn't keep you entertained for hours?! That's a shame. lol I do enjoy using photobooth, especially with someone else, trying to see what wierd and awkward things we can come up with. Are you asking if Photobooth or the iSight is used to anything usefull? Well Photobooth is, well, Photobooth. and the iSight is a webcam, obviously. Why do people have webcams? Many reasons, iChatAV, video podcasts, the list goes on. You can use it for whatever you want...
Having an isight built in isn't as much of an advantage as not having one is a disadvantage. I hardly ever use my isight but every now and again I do. My mate and I have just been playing about with iChat but he doesn't have an isight on his powerbook and he really wishes it had one.
BTW, if you use msn and you want to use the inbuilt isight (which is what I've been today quite a bit), download amsn. Google it. There are other msn clients such as Adium and Mercury but Adium doesn't support video calls and Mercury's ugly with a really bad configuration UI and although it does support video calls, they tend to be coloured blue on Intel machines.

I was surprised at the quality of the isight on my MBP17. The image quality is actually quite good for something that small. Definitely not something I need all the time, but great to have

I guess I just see it as gimmicy and dumb because I am a photographer, and have "real" (or at least more real
) digi cams. I see the point of it for people that don't have a digital camera, or just want to take a quick snapshot for their friends or grandparents, I was just wondering if anyone here had a cool and interesting use for it haha... i thought about that.. but decided on keeping it cleanBiikeMike said:Totally not where I thought you were going with that

Im a photographer myself... and i dont think the isight is intended so much as a snapshot tool, as it is a video tool... I use it to video chat ALOT.
