I'm not trying to fan any flames. I am genuinely curious what people think.

In my opinion - I think that Apple's servers were and are enormously taxed - and presented and continues to present issues regarding downloading 5.0 and syncing to iCloud.

Things aren't extremely intuitive. Not difficult to learn - but based on the enormity of questions posted here (where one would think there's a higher level of expertise) - things don't really follow the "it just works" paradigm.

I don't expect flawless execution on launch day and there's always going to be a learning curve. But again - curious if people see the last 24 hours as successful or chaotic.

It's a new OS so people aren't sure. A lot of the people who ask questions probably don't follow the tech world as much as others do. Once you get the hang of it, it just works.

I think that negated "it just works" as a paradigm. Everything from toasters to cars have a learning curve and need you to get the hang of it to "work"

I also consider the people posting here with genuine issues and LOADS of questions more tech savvy than the general public. If people who visit this site are experiencing such issues and having such questions - I can only imagine how "mom" and "dad" are going to do when they get their phones with iOS5 this week....

The general public usually doesn't care, but some of the general public hear things and become confused so they ask.

Are you saying that when the general public gets their iPhone 4s - they won't care about iCloud and the issues that currently exist? Ok.

I'd say it was rough, but far from chaos or a failure.

The day the iPhone 3G/AppStore/MobileMe came out. Now that was chaos. I walked out of the AT&T store with my first iPhone around 9AM. It was completely unusable until about 4 or 5 pm once the load on the servers was light enough for me to activate my phone.
