So is the refresh still happening this year?

Or does this thread indicate that it has been delayed by a year? Or is it only the USB 3.0 that has been delayed and all the other expected upgrades will still be occurring this year?

Also, someone at CNET claimed that a source notified him that the new iMacs would be available late April, early May. Any update on this news? Is it more credible now, less credible? The same?

Well as much as I fully admit that I will buy the "ultimate" edition of whatever the reboot is as soon as it is announced, and am going nuts waiting, I would prefer that they put the USB 3.0 in. I don't think that should take a YEAR though ....
I really really do not want to have IVY bridge come out a year after SANDY bridge and make me covetous all over again. :(
 
No, that gives us an idea when the next refresh after the coming one will be. The coming refresh will have Sandy Bridge, and the one after that will have Ivy Bridge with USB 3, most likely.

What is USB 3 getting you that you have been living without all this time?

Do you have tons of FW 800 externals that are too slow? Or a bevy of USB 2 devices that just beg for USB 3?

Or are you just wanting a BMW M5 just to have one, but really only need to go 65 MPH the whole time?

Updates get here when they get here?
 
I too am going a bit nuts, were all excited.

And of course theyll be here this year!

Im really hoping for THIS tuesday.

Next tuesday is the white iPhone, and its possible for the week after that as well, but thats in may which is a bit too far.... but still possible.

If its not here this tuesday, than were really screwed.
 
nope, if the update doesnt happen on the first week of May then you need to worry, till then im not even expecting the imac to come out in april.
 
i agree with what has been voiced above -- as long as we dont get past the first week of may without an imac we're still fine.

but if the imac isn't here by the first week (and we haven't had any additional rumors explaining a new date), then we can start to worry.

but we still have a few tuesdays before we need to sweat that :rolleyes:

Not the best comparison. While clearly you can make do with USB 2.0 or FW800, you'd save time by having USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt.

Plus theres no police controlling how quickly you move data around about about. Plus if you're going to put 2k+ into a Mac, why would you want anything less then the best?

Wrong attitude Bro....you need to decide what YOU need and then buy that and don't look back until your purchase either goes out of style or doesn't work for you anymore. You are wasting your time trying to have the best that comes out unless it makes you more money via occupation to upgrade. 99% of you that upgrade so often will look back one day and realize you could have owned two more houses or had 60,000 more in the bank, etc. instead of a new Mac each each that does nothing more for you than last years did. While you make Steve Jobs richer....you make yourself poorer. It's a waste of money.
 
I am hoping to get the 21.5" imac for my office. I hope they dont make the screen much bigger or it could start to look a bit stupid on my desk but I really want it to replace my vista laptop. I wont want to leave work I will be in heaven!!! :)

I am getting office 2010 for it thou. Are you allowed say that on this site.
