What if it´s not ever going to come out and Apple won´t even say anything? I would hate to wait for nothing.

Is it already time to start thinking of buying a PC?

Have you done your background reading?

The reason I ask is:

A) There are 100s of threads on the subject.
B) In each of these threads there is the fact that the E5 LGA2011 CPUs are not released and no other manufacturer has launched LGA2011 workstations yet, let alone announce them.

So no, it isn't.

Exactly... it's primarily a problem with Intel. This doesn't just refer to Xeons. The i7 extremes haven't been released either. I'm holding out on purchasing anything until we see some updates from Intel.

If you're not a professional do you really need one?

If you want a Mac that is easy to open, Yes. If you want a Mac that has ports on the front for ease of use, Yes. If you want a Mac that has room for two hard drives and an optical drive where you can choose your own monitor, Yes.

I have a sense that if Apple decides not to build a new Mac Pro that it will announce the intention just as with the Xserve. But there are no guarantees.

If we knew the answer to this question, you'd already know.
