I was wondering what was using so much space. I had 93Gb of space left on my 256Gb and it appears this was down to podcast app.

Anybody know if this is because over last year the amount of podcasts that downloaded automatically? As one podcast over 20 episodes were taking up 21GB

So now on my x I have 226GB of space from 256Gb. Guess 64Gb would have been enough after all.

That said least the amount of video in 4K and films etc I can download won’t be an issue. Makes me think how much harder it would to ever fill 512GB is.

Some podcasts are better at compressing files than others. I have some where one 2 hour show is 30MB and a different show takes 100MB for
3 hours.

you are able to set and control the number of podcasts that are downloaded.
in the podcast app just go to settings and do 2 things (1) configure any defaults you want that affect all podcasts and (2) in each individual podcast you can set how many podcasts to keep at one time and if listened to podcasts are to be deleted or not.

I found out by accident this week that my iPhone had been automatically downloading the soothing, elegant sounds of Tiesto’s Club Life Podcast (to which I subscribed back in 2011, I believe?) and kept downloading them religiously every week even if I never opened the app or listened to the damn things.

This is the dumbest app on iOS ever.
