My beloved Mac Pro 2006 was recently stolen from my locked garage - had it from new. I was shocked and gutted.

I literally shed blood upgrading the CPU to x5355 (getting to the heatsink cut me, twice!) and then slapped an ATI 7950 Mac Edition into her (I think that GPU alone was worth more than rest of the unit).

iCloud was signed in and I check daily to see if the thief (or whoever they've sold it on to) has decided to take it online.

Without doubt, the Mac Pro 2006 was the single best tech purchase I've ever made. I used it daily. My wife knows I love that thing more than her lol

I've not given up hope, there can't be many people who want a 20KG Mac which is knocking on 12 years old so we'll see. I can only imagine the look on the thief's face when they realise the true value.

Sad to hear your news. I bought a 1.1 on a whim for £100 last year, and upgraded CPUs, RAM and GPU for another £100. Now find I need to have Macs with decent-sized screens 140 miles apart, so suddenly, the 1.1, running El Cap, will be one of those two, my 5.1 being the other. I'm not a hugely demanding user, but it runs beautifully for a 12 year old machine.

Sorry for the bad news man. That thing was a beast and had some horsepower. I learned so much from upgrading it and getting it to run Mavericks. What a ride. The love affair came to an end after reapplying thermal paste at one point. I must have seated the CPU's wrong and I subsequently bent some of the pins on the MoBo. I still didn't give up and tried to straighten the pins out, but to no avail. I wound up picking up a 3,1, put the fastest chips in it that it could take and it really didn't skip a beat, though the 1,1 just seemed to have more juice? Currently, I have a single cpu (3.46 GHz), flashed 4,1 to 5,1 and for me, it's the best Mac I've ever owned. Just a breeze to upgrade and clean. I definitely wouldn't mind having a second Xeon in there, but it serves my needs well enough. That said, it all started with the 1,1... lots of memories. Hope your baby turns up safe and sound.

The thief did you a favor. Now go out and get a modern computer. Plenty of good older (but not ancient like yours) Mac Pros on eBay.

LOL - the Mac Pro wasn't my only machine, but with four drive bays and enough I/O to shake a stick at, it still served a purpose, especially with the Mac Edition 7950.
