So many bad screens etc, any postive results?

Yeah mate, i got my week 53 one yesterday, the screen is 110% perfect no flickering, no yellowing, quite as a mouse.
only prob is my ram is faulty and need to get a replacement imac

Thanks guys, needed some reasurances. I know apple support will cover me but I didnt want to get a faulty one and have to go through the bother of replacing it. Its great to hear good news for a change.
I seen the latest problems with the ram, at least thats not a major problem for apple to fix.

People generally only post when then are disatisfied with something. I am sure many people are satisfied, but there are still quite a substantial number of people with less than satisfactory iMacs, hence why there are so many threads about it.
I've been waiting for a whole month for apple to fix the screen issues, but it seems the 53 week products are still not safe enough to be purchased.
When can they figure out a way to remove the defects, no answer...
Maybe it is better to go for a 24' led cinema display with mac mini? Damn...but it is not my best choice.

Yesterday, I had my screen & cable replaced at the local Apple store. I had the flickering, blackouts, etc. This was set-up by an Apple Tech calling the shop setting up an appointment, etc. (This because I didn't want to return it.)
I had it in around Xmas; however, the parts were not available. They did however, do the firmware install while it was there. (I didn't want it at the shop over the holidays.) The Firmware update did not fix the problem!
I haven't had a flicker or blackout, since returning form the Apple store and setting the computer back up on my desk. I ran it from 1:30 PM Yesterday until after midnight. Today stated at 7:30 AM and still no flickers, etc. so-far.
If they come back I'll be sure to post it!

Does your new display have the yellow tinge/gradient problem ? I am waiting to take my 27" in for screen replacement for yellow gradient problem, no flickering. Like you , I opted for repair over return.
There are thousands of users without any problems, most only tend to post in forums when they have issues. My week 49 i5 is great, no problems whatsoever.
Ive had my i7 since Thanksgiving and it has been error free! I havent tested it for the yellow tint because to be honest, it looks perfect to me. I dont want to start looking for issues cause then I will find some.
My i7 is under a constant load, I have yet to power it down and it is still blazing fast. No screen flickers or any other noise issues to report. Extremely happy with my i7.

with all due respect (and I have absolutely no gripes with apple as I am waiting to buy an i7).. it seems ludicrous that people are exclaiming success after less than a day. I just visualise lots of apple fans sitting fingers crossed hoping not to see any issues and even ignoring the odd flicker as "i didnt really see it".
In my view, these things are so darn expensive they should be perfect and when you get it home you shouldnt be sitting there on the edge of your seat waiting for issues or hoping there are non. You should be able to relaxx and enjoy your new purchase with confidence that its just as it should be.
Until that point, I wont be playing Apple Roulette and I simply dont understand why people are on their 3rd or 4th machine - either they are far too forgiving or are seeing something thats just not there but they are looking for because of forums like these. However, I am NOT saying there are no issues but it strikes me that possibly people on their 3rd/4th machine are looking too hard!
I call this OCPD (Obsessive Compulsive Purchaser Disorder). Look, I buy gadgets, most often they are expensive. I expect some problems. I dont look for them. I EXPECT them. I dont care how expensive something is, you are bound to run into an issue here or there. The severity of said issue might be huge or not so much.
When I make a purchase like the iMac, I look for things like a WARRANTY and good SUPPORT. That is why I felt confident that my purchase was a good one, cause if something goes wrong, Apple will fix it, or try to at least.

So to the OP, if you want it, get it. Dont worry about all these OCPD emm effers. Just get it and love it. If something does go wrong, you can always blame me for telling you to get it.

It's perfect, afaict, but I also haven't been trying to find issues either.
