Yeah, my mom just ran her Mercury Mini-Van over my laptop bag, where it was sitting in plain view, after being knocked off a chair by someone/something. I'm currently typing this ON the Macbook in question. Yes, it still functions perfectly. The entire laptop is bent inward at the middle (If you're looking at it closed, from the top.), the top left corner is popped up, the screen has a spot where the plastic has bent away from the screen itself, and the CD/DVD drive is pretty much FUBAR'd. My question to you, is this: How much does a replacement casing for a Black C2D Macbook cost? I just got back from an Apple Store, where the guy guessed on the spot what was wrong, and proceeded to say that Applecare didn't cover it (And that it also didn't cover anything really.).

I really need some help, because the closest thing I got to a pricing was from a website that said roughly $650.

I know this doesn't answer your question, but can you post some pictures of it.

Wow, sorry to hear about your MB.

At this rate, you'll need a new case and internal burner and perhaps an LCD down the road (I'm surprised the screen isn't even cracked). Unfortunately, these things are expensive and you're just better off buying a new MB.

You should be able to get some of those case parts much cheaper on ebay.

Sorry and good luck!

Bad angle, but the screen is bowed pretty badly.

This is where the CD/DVD drive is almost bowed shut.

I guess the car put pressure on the top in a way that forced the lid backwards, thus leaving exposed edges, and a weird over-bite-esque thing in the back.

Another shot of the CD-DVD drive.

The top left and right corners are 'popped' up and out of place, so that you can see below them.

I am so beyond angry at this whole thing.

That's true. So, does anyone know how much the case costs to get fixed by Apple? I'm assuming they're gonna replace the entire case, minus the LCD.

As I said earlier, I'm surprised the thing still works. He needs a new case, burner and perhaps an LCD screen. If he can find all these for cheap more power to him. If not, might as well buy another MB.

See, everything works just fine, it's just that it's all sorta... bent. I don't THINK I need a new burner, because it still functions, the case is just bent in a way that makes it inaccessible for use. And the screen seems fine. God, I dunno. I have a total of $6 in my name right now.

That wouldn't go over well, lol. Both my parents are accepting the situation well, but are blaming me entirely.

glad its working.

check ebay and ifix it for parts and i'm sure that you can rebuild it over time. but it'll take awhile.

also, i'd backup asap just in case. and i agree that your burner might be okay. but you'll probably need a new LCD at some point.

Could Maybe Get Some "Good Advertising" Out of This...

I would think it possible that given the Right Circumstances and some Properly Directed emails w/ Good Pics (and story description) that you could get APPLE to spring for a NEW computer... FOR GOSH SAKES... the thing still works and was DRIVEN Over!!

I had a fairly serious High End Audio Amplifier (BRYSTON) that was damaged severely (bent way out of shape) in a Highway Truck Crash; it worked perfectly after but looked like Heck, and the Manufacturer actually wanted to keep it as a Testimony that it would still work!! They built me a Brand New one with same s/n as Old Unit (was 5+ years old at the time too!!)

Not sure, but certainly worth checking into I am sure!! Good Luck and Hope you can have someone point you in the Right Direction Here....
