Have any of you decided to order it?

I have an iPhone 6+ and am really itching to upgrade. When the s8 / s8+ came out I was blown away, but was skeptical because I did the same thing (iPhone 4 to s3) and the s3 eventually crapped out.

So, when the X was announced, I was not entirely impressed but still looked nice. The price however pissed me off.

So, I actually woke up to see if I could get an 11/3 pre order date, but couldn't with the overload. So now, I am probably going to get the s8+, Samsung watch (not sure what one), and call it a day to try a new experience. If it doesn't work out I can always go back and by that time the X will be readily available.

Based off what reddit and here have to say, people who jumped onto the s8 / s8+ seem very happy with the decision. Now I will wait until there are some deals on it.

My days of getting ultra premium smartphones are over. Im very happy to wait 6 months and get the best htc or samsung has to offer for €€€ off.

Also, we wont be buying any more iphones in our house. We cant afford the bells and whistles needed for these new iphones to make them a affordable purchase. Apple care is right out of our price range and i aint buying iphone which cost €6-700 to fix if the back breaks.

My next phone may well be a mid range A series Samsung.

I see iphones and Notes, etc costing €500 + 60/80 pm for two years.

The iPhone X aint happening here.

I am in the same boat. Money is not an issue (luckily), but i simply cannot spend that amount of money on an iPhone when an S8 can be had for £510 on Amazon UK.

Never had Android but I might well try out the S8.

I am on an annual upgrade plan with EE so I can just hand in a phone and get a new one in 12months. I was planning on upgrading to the new iphone X before it was released thats what i was looking forward too. Then We find out theres an 8 plus in town taking up the upgrade date of the next big iphone. If the X had released on the usual late september id of gone for that but the wait and pushing my upgrade back and the risk of when people will even get them i couldnt be bothered with.

I ended up going for the note 8 and so far so good. There are pluses and minuses between both devices but the note 8 is stunning looking and that display "has the wow factor". Content looks amazing on it. I like to draw also so the spen has extra benefits to me. I will probably go for a iphone x plus next year but trying something new for a year is a nice change.

I got up and successfully made a backup X preorder for my husband. And now I'm trying to type on my new Pixel 2 keyboard. :D

I can't deny feeling caught up in the pre-order excitement and I'm glad I got to participate in that. But when I saw what it costs to repair and insure an X I was glad I wasn't ordering for myself.

I am keeping my 7 Plus so I'm not leaving iOS anytime soon. I also have an SE.

Currently have a 6s and Pixel 1.

Was looking to upgrade either. Not a fan of the size of the Note 8 and there is way too much going on with the Pixel 2 to be spending £800-£900 and having to accept screen issues.

Google (LG) blew it so it looks like the 6s is getting replaced with an X next week and the Pixel 1 remains.

Not getting the iPhone X. Might revisit it in August/September 2018 if Note 8 is giving me issues. Let people spend their $ on it and get it as MSRP or at high markups if they want to buy from eBay.

I am in the market for another iPhone SE if Best Buy drops the price to $100 on Black Friday. If not, I might buy the Verizon Moto E4 and unlock it. It's only $40 for it too, so I can get a cheap little backup phone for my family, especially since my mom's Nexus 5X is about to crap out.

Lots of nice phones at all price points. The Trojan horse is imessage for many users trying to switch especially non techie (hate to say it. But non techie women).

So it’s not a Samsung or Apple thing. It’s more is iMessage/FaceTime thing.

My buddy go his wife a $950 note 8. She loved it. Screen and camera amazing. Android OS was fine with her. But anyone who is in Apple eco system is so used to iMessage. So going to standard MMs with compressed video is annoying to many android switches.

That’s where Apple gets u. Sure u can use other messenging apps that handle high quality video messening as iMessage. But not everyone uses same messenging platform.

But everyone who has iPhone has same iMessage. It’s that simple.

Until the carriers get their act together and make universal advanced messenging for all phones. iMessage will keep Apple users.

It’s a pain in the butt to have an att galaxy s8 and use advanced messenging only with other att users using galaxy s8 can do advanced messenging to Verizon galaxy s8 users.

Planning to go retro (circa 2014-2016) if prices keep go up. Hard to believe calling last year's models "retro" but 2-3 years with this planned obsolescence crap is considered driving 200,000 miles in the mobile industry.

I had high hope for pixel 2 xl but with burn-in issue, it turned me off. Isn’t pixel 2 xl for verizon? So..yeah i went ahead with x silver 256. I will test drive that and if i don’t like it, i’m gonna return if and wait for possible s9 plus or iphone x plus.

I ordered one. Will see if I keep it, or my note 8. My buddy slept through the preorder so he will take it off my hands if anything

Nope. Didn't order one. While I've liked my Apple gear in the past, I'm not quite thrilled about the software quality of iOS 11. In addition, as I got my S8+ for 599€ from a carrier discount (an unlocked model anyway, it's not tied to the carrier in any way), I just can't justify spending 1179€ (64B) or 1349€ (256GB) for the iPhone X, especially when I'd pretty much have to go for the 256GB model as the 64GB in the lower tier model is a hard limit, unlike my S8+ where I can expand the photo and music storage with an microSD card.

I'm more interested in a X Plus. So I'll wait until fall 2018. My 7 plus is more than good enough for my iOS needs at the moment. The monthly payments for a X 256gb is just not worth it to me for what it offers.

Yeah I ordered 2 of them, just seems like the best phone out there currently. I wish it had a larger screen, but hopefully next year there is a X plus. I missed the preorder and won't get it until December, but I really don't care as I've waited this long. I've learned to really not care about delivery dates anymore.

Everything else seems kind of lackluster anyway and I was very close to just getting a 8 plus and saying screw everything else.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
No, I will be upgrading my 6S to the 7 Plus. Because that should end up costing me half what an X will, and it will have Touch ID. If I buy an X all I will be thinking is how much the thing cost....
I can upgrade in 2 years to Apples next 2018 iPhone models again for a cheaper price if it it cheap enough for me.
I’m pretty annoyed with the fact Apple has increased its prices A LOT every year, the 6, the 7, the 8 and the X... I won’t be surprised at all if next years iPhone Plus starts from 1200 or something.

I also strongly dislike Apples utter price gouging marketing plans this year by making only the 64GB and 256GB models available... I buy 128GB phones. I would need for instance the 256GB standard 4.7” iPhone 8, in the UK it’s priced at £849 RRP by Apple and so everyone else, that’s ONLY £30 less then the Note 8 full RRP........ hardly what I’d call value in any way shape or form.

0 interest here. I'm personally a little fed up with how egregiously expensive Apple devices are. I might go full Chromebook next time around on computer, too.

I enjoy my 2nd gen Google chromebook (2015). Great build, dual usb c ports, usb A ports, sd card slot, etc.

The new pixelbook is impressive, but yes it's expensive.

I usually have the latest Samsung and iPhone. But I'm going to wait next fall for the iPhone X Plus. Hopefully they will make the notch slightly smaller and add Always On Display.
