Thoughts on the mini pro? Will it replace your mini? Willing to pay for it?!?

I cannot see them producing two completely different forms so I imagine they will be similar.

I.e. Macbook and MacBook Pro or Apple TV and the AirPort Express.

I think when you look at the suggested plastic concept of the Mac Pro, the Mac mini will be a similar form but white - similar to the black and white of the Apple TV and the AirPort Express (noting they are not the same device though).

Given the mini's heat problems, if the plastic black chimney design works for the heavy duty CPU and GPU processors of the Mac pro I expect them to adopt it for the mini.

It looks like a dust bowl collection device though - the chimney design. Or perhaps a fancy ashtray.

The new Mac Pro is metal. I expect the new mini, whenever it appears, to be similar to the current design if not unchanged. Apple was making a statement with the new Mac Pro. They don't need to spend money to make a statement with their value leader machine.

Economies of scale, I bet the new Mini has the same design but with lesser performing parts and ports. I can't imagine all the R&D that went into this new Mac Pro could be justified by Apple for just 1 product line that doesn't really sell in high volumes.

I bet their plan is to unify the Pro and Mini lines into the same enclosure design. At least that makes sense to me. This new Mac Pro is less upgradable. Apple is following their predictable design patters, smaller, thinner, lighter, a more integrated design. The current Mini is cramped for space. It could use the additional vertical space this new Mac Pro presents.

If it's not the same exact enclosure as the new Pro it will probably be very similar, maybe cut in half, something along those lines.

I don't think so. There's just no way it makes sense. It's a Mini, and I don't see them making a Mini Max just for the sake of some economy of scale that really isn't there. Less materials beats that pseudo scale, I'd bet.

You're saying that black glossy shell is metal? Ok if it is but it is exceptionally glossy for metal.

Why would apple put out a new mini and keep it unchanged? By definition it is not new if it is unchanged.

It's polished aluminum.

It is clearly a vase for a silk flower arrangement. Just hope that your secretary knows they are silk and doesn't try to water them.

A new mini may fit, the major concern for the next mini is spacing for a change in antennae

huh? I bet 4 mini's would fit in the new Mac Pro enclosure.
There's not much to the mini at all, this new Mac Pro enclosure
has much more volume than the current mini enclosure.
I have taken the mini apart, it's parts are very minimal.

I was referring to an existing mini body. Anyone who thinks the next mini will look like the pro is a bit silly. However there is speculation that the existing mini body might have a weird time fitting a different antenna set for te new wireless.
