Great!

So thunderbolt is now a little risky, which might mean that sandybridge is the only thing that has me waiting for the iMac refresh.

Hmmm.

Since I don't really "need" a new system now, I'm just hoping to see a graphics boost in the next line...

i guess it will depend on what this refresh brings usb 3.0 is not that important to me in a desktop because my current has 640gb hdd and my new one will have atleast 1tb so i wont be doing much transfer past the initial so thunderbolt would suffice.

but if this refresh is not enough then maybe i will hold off or just pick up an air for something to play with.

Used & then a 2012 iMac

I really want a iMac bad BUT may just buy a 2010 iMac from CraigsList to get my feet wet...:)
If I can buy the used iMac at a good price then I can sell it & not loose much bucks...
This should satisfy me until the 2012 iMacs come out...:D

Ugh, there's always something around the corner.... I really wish they'd just release the new ones already so I can pull the trigger impulsively without thought. These articles with features that are coming make that hard to do! :)

Thunderbolt wasn't even something I was waiting for... I only care about a faster GPU and Sandy Bridge.

Only thing I might be missing is USB3.0, but I'm not waiting another year for that! I'm buying the next iMac, I've waited long enough. USB3.0 to Thunderbolt adapters might be the solution.

Found a iMac 21.5", 3.20 gb i3, 4gb Ram, 1000 HD, CS5, Office 09
All for $600, sounds to good to be true???
May be a scam??
Wander if it is the July 2010 release or before that..??
Bob

...other wise I will have to buy a refurbished iMac from the Apple store.:(

Bummer. Especially since it's been proven that the refurbished Macs are 100% garbage and don't work out of the box. I feel for you.

It's a scam.

Given that I do not have an iMac at the moment and was originally planning on waiting for the 2011 refresh I think I'll be sticking to my original plan.

Whatever dude. I never said or implied what you state. What I meant was that I would just be bummed because if I did buy a refurbished iMac it just meant I was not able to purchase the refreshed iMacs on time.

I know that refurbished Apple products are in tip-top condition.

Since thunderbolt is more than enough to handle usb3, plus it is esentially pcie as well... I am sure a usb3 adapter will be available eventually.

So nope, won't be waiting.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_2 like Mac OS X; en-gb) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8H7 Safari/6533.18.5)

What's the point of USB 3.0 when you got thunderbolt .... I bought the seagate go flex drive and seagate will be releasing the thunderbolt adapter so I won't have to forkout for a new thunderbolt based potable hard drive .... That feels so good ...

I also would like to know what USB3.0 has to offer on top of Thunderbolt.

Nothing... Thunderbolt can do a lot more than USB3.0 and it's faster.

But USB3.0 does have 2 (temporary?) advantages:

1. A lot of new motherboards and computers have it, therefore more and more people will have USB3.0 computers and your USB3.0 device (storage) will be easier to interchange with different systems. Currently only the Macbook Pro has Thunderbolt and it seems for now only Apple will be using Thunderbolt. Other motherboard/computer brands are still doubting.

2. USB3.0 devices can be found anywhere. Almost every external storage-manufacturer has USB3.0 devices (Western Digital, Seagate, Lacie, Sandisk, Kingston,...), while Thunderbolt has... 1 NAS... and 1 Lacie external SSD coming this summer?

I truly hope USB3.0 to Thunderbolt-adapters will be coming...

I see, compatibility basically. Nothing I'm not used to with Mac. =p

i'm not sure why a press release of ivy bridge and usb3.0/thunderbolt that will probably be released in 1 year will make you wait! if you need it, buy it now!

i plan on buying a macbook pro with ivy bridge, but i have just brought a imac last year. if you have been patiently waiting you will forever try and keep up with technology and will spend a silly amount of money doing so.

So why do you say SCAM??
A refurbished is around $995

Are you a Troll??
The refurbished are always a good deal...:D

Haha, email the seller then. All I know is that copy and pasted description has been used in plenty of scam listings. I'd post the response I got when I originally emailed someone (who apparently moved to the UK within the three days the posting was listed) selling that exact described computer, but I don't feel all that helpful anymore.

By all means, feel free to lose $600 then come back whining to the boards saying "OMG thay stoled my moneeez"

Exactly my point, but I guess some people need just the slightest push to buy a new computer...
