So what do the colors mean in Messages?

I get all sorts of colors showing up for people's messages, yellow, purple, white, today I got an orange colored message. Has anybody been able to figure it out?

I'm pretty sure they are random, but you can set a specific color in Preferences.

I'm guessing you don't have this checked:

I have it formatted to match Messages on iOS.

I think it was a glitch... Some of my were turning white and it was set to black. DP3 doesn't do it anymore.
