So what do you think about the Galaxy S4?

Ahhh... It's like comparing BMW vs Mercedes... They are both good high-end smartphones so to speak, what matters is your preference. Go to a local shop and try both phones yourself, you can then decide it better. I'm having both Note 2 and iPhone 4S and love them both

Didn't "wow" me at all. In my opinion, the features are just a gimmick. Never complained about not having those features on my iPhone. Also, the screen is a little too big for my taste. Although, I have no doubt it will sell good. Simply, I prefer iOS and my iPhone over anything else. And I'll be waiting for iOS 7 and the iPhone 5S this year.
well, the S4 seems quite great, but i do not like this kind of large screen size, i am waiting for the new HTC one.
Some of the new features strike me as gimmicky but it seems like a solid upgrade overall: more powerful battery, faster processors, huge upgrade in screen resolution.

I'd go xperia z or htc one. Those are the best choices at the moment if you want to go Android imo. I don't get the hoopla over the galaxy line at all. Cheap looking phones with less than optimal screens.
Coming from iPhone to Galaxy line was a bit of a learning curve. I currently have the S3 and although it took me some time to warm up to it, I am constantly amazed at what it can do compared to iPhone (customization and ease of file transfers, access etc).
I Wish it had a 4.5" screen but I make do. The S4 wasn't enough inticement for me to want one. Although I like the idea of a larger screen without making the phone larger. That in itself is a win.
There are lots of forums to help you find similar features that you liked with your iphone, and lots of people out there and oddly enough, even here in macrumours who have been helpful.
The only way I would go back to Apple now is if they changed several things:
Drag and drop files without being a slave to itunes, larger screen, screen customization, i hated looking at those apps all over the place, i like having them in an app drawer or not, but having the choice. I would like a notification light. Those are the big things for me.

Well at first I was anticipating it, but I hated the hype Samsung created around it as well as the actual announcement. Very tacky.
I was disappointed that they were sticking to the same materials. The design didn't do much for me, but it was expected.
I don't see the practical value of all their S-features. I just don't think they'll get used much.
However at it's core people need to remember why the Galaxy line has proven so popular. The S4 is a powerful smartphone, offering people that big, vibrant screen and a flexible OS.

I'll be switching from iPhone 5 to the GS4. I nearly jumped off iOS with the S3 and the S4 looks like enough to send me over for sure. The iPhone always feels like a toy when I use a friend's S3.
By that logic, you shouldn't be using an iPhone - you should be using a Nokia Lumia. Their ClearBlack+ displays are basically identical indoors and out.
That is meaningless. The sunlight is 100.000 times stronger than a 100 W light bulb. No iDevice on this earth is stronger than the sun.
It's a very nice size, as is my Galaxy S3. I'll be buying one, and then I will form an opinion after using it for ten days or so. I like to give all new products a good test period.
S4 is a great phone for Spring, the best smartphone of 2013 so far.
But, there ares still many new phones to come out this year, and I am waiting for the Snapdragon 800 phones. They will be even faster, but much much battery life.
I want a phone with Snapdragon 800 processor with a Motorola MAXX 3300mAH battery, that would be a beast. Maybe the Nexus-Five will be the one.

Andy says it best above. iPhone 5, S4, HTC One are all great phones.
I'm personally holding out for the HTC One. But if you decide to go for the S4 I think you will be quite happy with it.
Damn. That's disappointing. The dimness of its screen is pretty much the only thing I dislike about the Note 2, and it's been measured at ~240 lux. I was really hoping that the S4's screen would have been brighter, which would then likely hvae meant the same for the Note 3. Looks like that won't be the case.
Luckily the Note 2 is so much better than the iPhone 5 in every other way for my uses that the brightness of the screen doesn't become a dealbreaker
I still wish Samsung would get their **** together with their screens though.Same boring, cheap plastic design of the current S3 and Note 2.
Good thing it's that it's thinner than the current S3, but has a bigger screen and higher capacity battery. Good thing Samsung kept the physical home button.

I think its a good upgrade from the S3 maybe even more so then the 4S to the 5. I really like how the screen got bigger and the battery got bigger but the device got smaller.
But if you prefer iOS then it doesn't matter really. You'll need to use it for a while to see if you like Android.
I think the feel of the device is only a perception of the person handling it. I don't think the S3 feels cheap. And I feel the iPhone 5 feels cheaper then my iPhone 4S but I don't think either feel cheap overall. Plastic is relatively durable, the handgun in my avatar has a plastic frame and is renowned for being one of the most durable handguns ever created. Sure apples to oranges but that doesnt negate the fact plastic hold up very well to abuse. Plus with NFC and wireless charging these devices can't have a metal back so there is some function over form to it.
