I've been running Yosemite off an external disk drive for a couple of days now.
I don't hate it, and I don't love it. I guess it works as an operating system, but what I'm finding is that since I no longer care about the "user experience" (icons and fonts and what not), I'm forced to treat my computer as "just a tool".
And when I try to think about that ("who cares how it looks, what can it do for you?")... There are obviously better choices out there.
So what is it? What's so magical about Yosemite that should make me want to continue to use it? I don't care about things like Handoff or even iCloud. I don't care about things like memory compression or app nap.
I now exclusively care about getting things done. So why should I continue to use a Mac?
