Apple clearly has the support of the community in Palo Alto and Cupertino, but don't expect the next lawsuit to happen a mile for Apple's hq. The sheer amount of stolen ideas and intellectual property by Apple is staggering. In fact, Apple just let's Google create cool ideas and the rips it off. And in some cases even tries to patent what is clearly a Google product (Google glass or goggles project. That augmented reality glasses deal.)

We've seen Apple steal RIM BlackBerry Messenger, we've seen them steal Android's Notification Center. We've seen them take from WP7 and opening an app from the unlock screen. I really hope Apple gets into the tv business and then gets sued by every tv manufacturer in the world, since Apple will likely be using a typical standard design, that up until now, no one cared about. But since Apple is little more than a patent and litigation troll now, every tv manufacturer should be getting ready for the snake to enter the room.

Well they always home something under the hood :) and lately they go for sensationalism and everything they put out as minor that it is gets the "awesome" treatment.

Nothing is going to happen to Apple.

Apple, Google, and Microsoft are all in this controlled opposition cartel. Samsung was an outsider to that, so they got stepped on.

Interesting observation. With that line of thinking, lets add Samsung is the odd man out for nation of origin reasons as well.

All platforms rip off each other, stop acting like Apple just copies Google because they took Notification Center. You're really distorting the truth.

And what's next for Apple? Well, from the rumor mill it sounds like we should be expecting a 4" iPhone and a 7" iPad, both of which will sell tremendously. Apple will continue to reap profits and remain a big player in the mobile arena.

On this point, you're wrong. Apple hired the guy that did WebOS notifications. WebOS is their inspiration, not Android in this case.

Like it or not though that pull down notification is patent pending via Google since 2009. When it goes through google will either slap apple with a lawsuit to undo a MAJOR feature (for apple) that came out in iOS 5 or use it as a bargaining chip to stave off some of apples ridiculous lawsuits.

Well, I can say I'm looking forward to Sammy Appealing hard and hope that the patent system is rehauled to reject ridiculous software patents and patents covering standard geometrical shapes. The blind followers on this forum will never see how hypocritical they and Apple are. For any fool to even think that a phone like the S3 looks anything like an iPhone is pathetic. Good thing it was disallowed as one of the banned devices.

Notification issue is still patent pending by Google regardless of where apple bought it. It's always been an Android function since forever, or at least feels that way.

If someone stole your car then sold it too me that doesn't make it my car.

I haven't read the entire thing but I saw Erick Tseng's name all over it.

I am an avid iOS user, and I can fully acknowledge that Apple ripped Notification Center from Android. Anyone who tries disputing that is a fool. However, does that bother me? Nope, because Google has borrowed just as much from iOS.

Exactly. Which is why only a true fanboy would care about somebody copying somebody else. The issue of "copying" only affects the companies, not the customers. Fanboys care more about the company than the product they got from the company, so they're typically embroiled in these painfully stupid arguments with other equally foolish fanboys online, as if they were the companies in question slugging it out in the courtroom.

Meh, if Samsung or whoever is in fact just copying everything then they will always be behind and unable to catch up. Unless you guys think Apple is out of ideas and trying to surviving off old tech.

I think copying notifications was dumb. It always blocks my back button in apps and I have to swipe it away. I don't see a way to do it better but I'm not an apple engineer/designer either.

I found it ironic when apple was suing over slide to unlock while at the exact same time adding camera from the lock screen. However I'll never actually complain about that one since I use it so much.

Android's doesn't block the screen since it only replaces the statusbar. So, it was a poor design choice by Apple to make notifications bigger.

....Seriously?

Apple hired the guy that has been trying to bring wearable computing to the masses since the 80's..in 2010.

Apple has "Glasses" like patents going for years, hell the patent that got granted in July of this year was filed in 2006.

Have you read that patent? The abstract is virtual reality and the mock ups are down right laughable. I was trying to figure out if it was something similar to Google glass/project glass or a face mounted telescope with all those lenses and concave mirrors.

I think that was an idea apple had that was blown out of proportion when someone saw the patent get approved. The Borg have trendier eye wear...

Patent illustrations come before the actual aesthetics of a product are designed.

You also fail to comprehend that the technology behind all this has made dramatic shifts since 2006.

As for your " I was trying to figure out if it was something similar to Google glass/project glass or a face mounted telescope with all those lenses and concave mirrors." comment, do you know what a DLP projector is? Millions of those tiny mirrors in an incredibly small package.

I think you just don't have a good understanding of how technology matures...

In their defense, what they copied in the case of the messenger was a generalized concept. I think they wanted to offer yet another service of their own.

"You just don't have a good understanding of how technology matures!", exclaimed Mr. DLP

Technology does evolve I agree with that. But that wasn't Apples idea. I hate to use it again but Gordy on star trek use glasses that improved his vision via technology. Who is going to make the first Terminator skin? Maybe Goku can see your power level? They took an idea that was thought of a million times used the best technology available to patent it, throw it at the wall and it stuck. The bigger the company and the more vague the patent the easier it is to abuse a broken patent system.

Btw, I'm not saying science fiction thing should never be created but not with obvious patent abuse.

A patent is just how an idea is implemented. You can do the same thing two different ways and not infringe on a patent. The Head mounted display has been a concept since at least the 50's. No one claimed apple invented it, I've just pointed out that Apple has been working in that field for years now and didn't simply follow google.

As for how many patents, apple has "over 9000!!!!!!" ;)

Yea, I got your reference :p
