On this point, you're wrong. Apple hired the guy that did WebOS notifications. WebOS is their inspiration, not Android in this case.

Like it or not though that pull down notification is patent pending via Google since 2009. When it goes through google will either slap apple with a lawsuit to undo a MAJOR feature (for apple) that came out in iOS 5 or use it as a bargaining chip to stave off some of apples ridiculous lawsuits.

Exactly. Which is why only a true fanboy would care about somebody copying somebody else. The issue of "copying" only affects the companies, not the customers. Fanboys care more about the company than the product they got from the company, so they're typically embroiled in these painfully stupid arguments with other equally foolish fanboys online, as if they were the companies in question slugging it out in the courtroom.

I think copying notifications was dumb. It always blocks my back button in apps and I have to swipe it away. I don't see a way to do it better but I'm not an apple engineer/designer either.

I found it ironic when apple was suing over slide to unlock while at the exact same time adding camera from the lock screen. However I'll never actually complain about that one since I use it so much.

Android's doesn't block the screen since it only replaces the statusbar. So, it was a poor design choice by Apple to make notifications bigger.

Apple has "Glasses" like patents going for years, hell the patent that got granted in July of this year was filed in 2006.

In their defense, what they copied in the case of the messenger was a generalized concept. I think they wanted to offer yet another service of their own.

A patent is just how an idea is implemented. You can do the same thing two different ways and not infringe on a patent. The Head mounted display has been a concept since at least the 50's. No one claimed apple invented it, I've just pointed out that Apple has been working in that field for years now and didn't simply follow google.
