They aren't gonna be in stores before they are announced... either later that day or in the near future.

Why would they have a press event if you could go into a store and buy them tomorrow morning. They will be released during the press event. You may not evven be able to buy from apple stores that day (not really sure how quickly the american stores get them, over in the Uk we have to wait usually about a week unless you live near regents street store)

What about buying from the Apple store? Do we have to wait a week then? (please, please say no;))

No one knows until the the actual announcement whether they'll be available that day or whether shipping will be several weeks away.

As you can tell by my sig, I'm a new Mac owner and this could by my first new iMac announcement, so take this as it is.

My guess is that we'll end up having to wait a couple of days, I'm thinking if it was already at stores, and was just in the back for hiding, we'd see leaks everywhere.

The online store might have it hours later.

Does anyone know what time the actual even starts in GMT?

Thanks :)
6pm I believe.

I would imagine that whatever they release will be available to order shortly after the press event. There's no real need for Apple to hold an event now for products that they can't ship.

You sure, i'd rather turn up an hour early than an hour late.

MacRumors said:
Apple's Media Event which is scheduled to take place on August 7th at 10AM PDT

Which means it is at 5 pm. See here for the conversion

doh, leave the office late, or be stuck in traffic when the announcement is made....

What a dilimma !

Well assuming you are in Cheshire the keynote will be at 6 pm because we are currently in BST. So leave a little early so you get home in time for the start.

4:30 and I'm outta the door !
Hopefully should be home by 6pm depending on how mental traffic is tonight.

So it was 6pm all along! How ironic that with access to all these web pages that we couldn't even get that right!

If you read through carefully then you will see that we did get it right, the event was at 6pm BST (UK) which is 5pm GMT. Just because someone asked for the time in GMT doesn't mean they are in the UK.
