So What's The Deal With Sirius??

Theres a Sirius app in the iTunes store? Have a link for it? Or are you talking about the jailbroken version? If so just google uSirius, no need to keep bringin git up since the info is out there, but if there is one in the app store, please link, i'd love to add my account to it to stream..
Wait for the dev team to release their jailbreak this weekend, supposedly, and then download a program called uSirius from installer. You'll have to add the source for it manually; you can find this info on www.modmyifone.com. Then you can listen to all of the sirius stations. I was using uXM on my first gen just a few days ago and it worked awesome over Edge.
EDIT: All of the Sirius stations offered online. Coincidentally, XM offers online access for $2.99 per month for 6 months. I know there are about 125 stations offered online. Most of the major stuff is there. Not a bad deal. There is a few second delay between switching stations so it can buffer, but it's a much cheaper alternative than buying new hardware and paying $12.95 or whatever a month.

In general I'd imagine it will be a online stream app. similar to what you can use now from a computer to access Sirius. Since Sirius is a paid service you would need an account. currently that's $12.95 a month. In addition you'd need to setup a username and password by calling them.

This is the type of app I would be more inclined to get from the app store than 3rd party jailbroken stuff. I'm interested to see the development of official apps and the ramifications it will have. I immediately erased all but 2 web apps from my phone yesterday and if there is a higher level of quality control than 3rd party apps (many disappointed me) will it push that sector of users to even a more niche status than before?

No, not if you wait for Sirius to release the official app in the iTunes store. If you want it today you'll need to jailbreak and use the other app mentioned above.
I spoke with the developer of Usirius and hes working on a new version 2.0 just started a week or so ago. The problem is the source code he uses for the app has some questionable legality issues involved. The WMA codec and more. So more than likely it will be a Jailbroke app unless he can work around the issues and he said he would sell it for 1.99 or 2.99 for the app..

I don't think Sirius would care. historically their business model has had them have a hands off approach to the development of their units. They have preferred to leave that to second parties. I'm hoping that will change with the merger because Xm's hardware kicks butt on Sirius'.
As far as not allowing Sirius to stream, that's more on apple and iphone. I have never been able to access any mediaplayer from iphone safari.
Lastly while I applaud Usirius, an official media player will much more appealing than any workaround any 3rd party could offer

there is one coming from StreamStar (i think) they make the apps for sirius for blackberries and stuff.. I believe it's int he alpha stage
