Ignore me if this has been mentioned, but with all the 300 news articles every week on Vision Pro, I just can't keep up.

Do we know what the refresh cycle is going to be for Vision Pro? I feel like every year like the iPhone and Apple Watch is ambitious and unrealistic to say the least. Every few years, like the AirPods, make the most sense to me.

But if it's anything like the AirPods Max... We'll see a viable fleshed out product around 2070?

Anyway. Vision Pro is cool, definitely excited to see first impressions, but I surely won't have a chance to use it until they either hit eBay at $700 used or we're long enough down the product line that Gen 5 is actually affordable.

With iPad 1 and iPad 2, there was less than a year between releases. Same thing with MacBook Pro M2 and M3 chips. Apple Watch series 3, 4, 5, 6 all had <1 year gap between each release. Seems like with new categories of products, it's easier to figure out large gaps to improve so the release cycle is sooner.

I would think the yearly cycles from consumer products are not in the same category. I'd bet on 2 years.

Maybe a V2 will come out by the end of 2025 tho, to fix things from the first version quickly and iterate on the product, but after that I wouldn't hope for yearly upgrades.

Since are products that are refreshed once per year..but also once per 4-5 years...Maybe this one will be around 3-4 years...since this isnt the mainstream product and Apple wants that.
The mainstream will be the advance SoC and tech that will allow AR glass to be a thing

I could see them doing internal changes (new chips) more often than changes to the headset itself. That way, they don't have to change the tooling for manufacturing (as much).

But we're all speculating here. There's no precedent for a brand new $3,000+ device category from Apple. With iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, they kept iterating quickly and the second generation was already a big leap. Hard to say if that's possible here. From my impression, the Vision Pro is much more complex than any of these three decvices.

There are of course many obvious points for improvement with the Vision Pro. Higher performance main chip. Less weight. Lower price. Longer battery life. And, yes, some of these goals contradict each other. But that's for the well-paid engineers at Apple to figure out …

I'd expect more like the first gen Apple Watch. Released April 2015, S1/S2 didn't drop until September 2016. In this case, it may be even a *bit* longer - Sept 2025 for VP2 feels doable.

Look at the 12" Retina Macbook - never get a new version - just stopped in 2017.

I still have mine: 2015 m3 and 2017 i5 - best travel laptops ever!

My guess as well. If I had to wager, I’d think we might see a refresh of some variety at WWDC 2025 at the earliest.

Early reports indicate “the first half of 2027 at the latest” as the date for the second generation Apple Vision Pro. Other reports suggest late 2025/early 2026. This substantial delay of “at least two years away” is what led me to make the decision to buy it, rather than just wait for the successor if it was coming out in just twelve months or so.

First of all let's hope it is successful enough for Apple to justify not killing it.

I do think we'll get a 2nd gen model as it sounds like they are already hard at work on it (sorry if you just preordered lol) but we'll need to wait and see if we get a 3rd gen.

2nd gen based on rumors might come out next year or anywhere up to 2027.

It's too early to tell but I think we might get cheaper model next year or 2026 and the Pro (2nd gen) will be released in 2027.

Good points here.

I think every 2 years or so might be the winner. I'm hopeful as well that the Vision Pro lives for more than the first gen. Personally won't be getting one unless the price comes down to under $1,000 by gen 5/6/7. Interested to see regular schmo reviews though!

Not realistic imo. Its a computer. What current Apple computer you know is under $1000?

I think this is a very realistic take. A cheaper variant possibly late next year with a 2nd gen pro in 2026 or early 2027. I can’t imagine many things pushing the limits from a hardware standpoint.

Apple Watch is well under that pricepoint.

I bought my M1 Air for $899.

Most of the iPhones are sub 1K.

You can get a very capable iPad for the price too.

Actually, come to think of it, I don't know of any Apple computer you can't get for under $1,000. If you go with the base, that is. I'm not saying "Vision Pro" has to come down to that price, but just some form of the "Vision" platform.
