Likely when the product announcement event happens; no one knows the date for sure but speculation is either the 14th or 21st of October.

Why possibly 22 and not 21? Or 20 for that matter? And then you people hate analysts that make blind guesses :)

Generally Apple makes announcements on Tuesdays, I believe, so the 21st would be far more likely than the 20th/22nd. Some were speculating that it might be the 14th because apparently the calendar in the Yosemite update was offering some clue to that effect.

It could be any day in October, really, and we won't really know the answer until Apple makes an announcement and sends out invites.

Apple has since Lion released each release after announcing it at their quarterly earnings call with the exception of Mavericks which was announced during a keynote for the iPad Air and iPad Mini with Retina. The releases are usually the next day except in the case of the keynote, it was available that day. The conference call for quarterly earnings is scheduled for Monday October 20th. But they have released both Lion and Mountain Lion on Wednesdays. I would expect it on Tuesday 21st but it could be Wednesday 22nd.

10.7 Lion. Conference call Tues July 19, 2011. Release Wed July 20, 2011.
10.8 Mountain Lion. Conference call Tues July 24, 2012. Release Wed July 25, 2012.
10.9 Mavericks. Keynote Tues Oct 22, 2013. Immediate release Tues Oct 22, 2013.
10.10 Yosemite. Conference call Monday Oct 20, 2014. Release expected Tues Oct 21, 2014.

Just going by iOS 8, be careful what you wish for. ;)

My Mac Mini is running just fine on Mavs so i'll wait for the guinea pigs to test it for me before I jump in.

Most likely they will be released on 16th Oct, Because they're planning to announce the new iPad and the Retina iMac. So i guess in the same day it will be launched.

So the next question is when do we get the first beta for 10.10.1?

If yosemite is still buggy upon launch, it will probably come out pretty soon after that I reckon.
