Because while watching little 2 minute long clips on youtube is fine and good, there is a whole universe of video out there, and save for, again, Youtube, what major video hubs are there?

Apple has a fleet of devices that claim to provide the best experience on the web, but cut out the video.

They say Flash is this, flash is that, for any gamers out there, you know who they sound like? Silicone Knights, the guys who made that crappy Too Human game. They cried and whined about how the Unreal Engine was hampering them and yadda yadda yadda, yet for whatever reason, dozens of AAA games selling millions were being made.

Flash may not be perfect, nothing is, but it's what the internet runs on in terms of the majority of multi media, and they need to provide SOMETHING. Some kind of alternative. How much longer are they gonna keep up this BS of having the internet in your hands? It's like giving you an HDTV and saying it's a huge improvement, but it's in black and white.

Don't you already have one troll thread going? I believe you already covered this.

I miss flash already so many websites missing video now, it really does suck. I suspect eventually enough people will complain though and apple will have to do something.

Between YouTube, Vimeo and the myriads of sites who now have HTML5 versions we've covered 95% easily.

Flash is a pathetic excuse for a platform. Good riddance.

people have complained since the iPhone came out. Apple hasn't cared up to this point. Instead, Jobs disses Adobe. You may have to live with an Flash-less iPad for it's entire lifecycle. HOPEFULLY, you won't--but be prepared.

are u being serious or sarcastic? or are you SJ?

Are you in a bid for the Troll of the Year Award?

If you have a bunch of gripes, put them together and keep them all in one post.

/maintains patience...

Download the ABC app now and the CBS etc. apps when they come out? I'm pretty sure CBS's website will serve html5 video as well.

The real major player that's missing is Hulu, and I bet that flash wouldn't change that. Case in point: The PS3 has a web browser and flash but Hulu blocks it even though it's technically capable. If Hulu doesn't launch an iPad app at some point soon they're crazy.

ABC and CBS? What the hell is on ABC and CBS? Whatever, I may not enjoy watching the misadventures of Super Nanny as much as the next guy, but it's something. It's two more drops in the barren, desert that could be an ocean if Apple would provide flash.

They won't do it for fear it'll cut into the App store. If you don't HAVE to go through Apple and their restrictive means of keeping a stranglehold of anything and everything that comes onto their devices, why would you want to?

It's definitely something that every buyer should know before they buy an iPad. Some people depend on specific flash websites. You can't just dismiss that because you want to defend Apple.

Well on the phone it's not a big deal because the screen is to small to take advantage of it so they can get away with it. If they want this to be the best browsing experience ever though they will have to pony up eventually otherwise competitors will come out with similar devices that have flash and other amenities that will leave this iPad behind. For now I can live with it but in the future if there are similar devices employing flash and apple still doesnt support it I will end up selling the iPad and purchasing one of those.

there WILL be somewhat "similar" devices coming out this summer. They won't have the Apple label on them, but that doesn't mean they won't appeal to a large segment of the population.

I've heard that Hulu is going to come out with an app. It may be subscription, though. If it's not much, I'll happily pay. 99.9% is a major overestimate, considering most video sites have already jumped on board.

As for flash gaming goes... meh. I stopped using facebook for the most part because of all the annoying flash game posts and updates and requests. Are there any other flash games that have a significant following, beyond facebook?
