So Where's Cover Flow? (& other iPod Inquiries)

I love the iPad feature but I do miss the cover flow, don't you? I'd love to flick across all my albums on the iPad but can't seem to do so; it seems like they purposefully got rid of that for us.

Also, out of curiousity, what tab do you use the most when scouring through your music?

Via albums, artists, genre?

I'm currently viewing through all albums, though the artists pane seems more functional for me; as i'm only using the Albums view to see the artwork.

When you go into albums section it shows you all the album art work so there isnt anything you are missing out by the lack of cover flow.

Despite the eye candy for cover flow, I don't exactly miss it for this touch screen purposes. Now that I think about it, I don't use cover flow at all except for on the iMac and MBP.

I personally create my own playlists which have random songs on it, and only listen to an artist's full album or discography on rare occasions. I guess that's why I don't fiddle around in coverflow on these devices.

I'm thinking Apple wanted to make use of their new split view controller paradigm, which doesn't fit well with cover flow.

What is the split view controller paradigm?

In landscape mode, there is a vertical pane on the left showing a list and a bigger pane on the right showing the details of the current selection from the list.

In portrait mode, the list on the left disappears and the detail view covers the whole screen. However, you can click a button to bring up a "popover" view with the contents of the list.

Because the list view in landscape mode is vertical it doesn't accommodate cover flow, which is normally horizontal.
