First of all, it hasn't been launched yet, so I doubt companies have it already.

Second...do you really want a company like AOL, with it's festering turd of a desktop chat client, creating software for your iPhone? I certainly don't...but I do hope the Adium developers create a version, that would indeed be great.

adium isn't made by AOL. its an opensource project.

and i doubt many, if any, devs have the SKD yet. only some big names perhaps, but few and far between.

It's been said a million times...iChat would eat into SMS profits for AT&T, which in turn would eat away at Apple's share of said profits. Don't hold your breath for iChat.

And that's been answered a million times with the majority of the phones on the market having the ability to connect to AIM already.

I still think SMS and chat both have the strong points. I like the easy and speed of just typing in a number / selecting a contact and sending a quick sms. What I really would want chat for would be the cases that sms does not cover. My son comes home from school at plays on the Mac Mini, I can then IM / chat with him from my phone. There have been plenty of times that I wanted to ask / tell someone something that I know is on their computer, but does not have a cellphone.

Google, Garmin, on2, Adobe, Sling Media. Pure guesses here, but if any tech is shown that's not Apple at the main keynote, i'd bet they have had access to the SDK.
