I'm sure you've seen them in ST_TNG and ST_Ent, those iPad sized electronic tablets.

The iPad is the closest thing to come to those and with more functionality IMO. (the iPhone was clooooooose)

and on a sidenote: the new medical 'tricorder' that's been in the commercials lately.

but this is just about iPads :D

google search already showing various skins and the like to mimic the PADD lol

Hard to miss that science fiction has become science fact. I already compared my iPad when I first got it to "Star Trek Technology" and it is. Amazing how far we've come in gadgets.

There is an upcoming app that mimics the Star Trek log pad thing, misplaced the link though. Maybe someone here knows.

here's one from the first page of results:

@danpass: i lol'd :D '...moral is low.' classic.

I too noticed this when it was released. Having the silver rear case literally sealed the deal. Had it been black plastic like the iPhone or even white, it would have been a different story. :p

I've always felt that was one of the major reasons apple went with the ipad name instead of one of the other names everyone was speculating about. Maybe SJ is a Trekkie. Live long and prosper...

Thanks for posting this. I thought I'd remembered seeing an iPad commercial on Star Trek! :D

Oh, and thanks for the links to the other treads as well...

This topic reminds me of a TV series called Sci-Fi Science? (I believe that is what it's called on The Science Channel. *Sc not siffy...er SyFy.

I was just rambling on about this very subject with others. I said all those spiffy data pads in Star Trek have become a reality, although antiquated by comparison now as someone else mentioned.

Now, we "the international community" just need to rekindle the Space Program.

That choice of words made me think, the Kindle looks even more antiquated than the Star Trek pad thingy. I think that shows just how far ahead of the curve the iPad really is.

yeah, no kidding

when the first man on the moon, a known recluse, who won't sign anything because it will be sold, who rarely grants interviews; purposely comes out to say your direction is crap ............ you better get the hint.

I also noticed the similarity between the PADD and the iPad. Apple has been using its copy machine again!
