All the hype, the build up, the anticipation, and the only new functionality us iPhone owners get, will cost us $1.98 each time we use it?

No thanks Steve, what I will spend making seven ringtones your way, I can do unlimited times with third party software. Seems like it's all about the money for them now.

Try pissed. I got my iphone before they announced this damn event. had i known i would have waited til after. 2 weeks will be this weekend. So i guess i can take it back and return it or they give me a credit of $200 + the tax difference.

yep I feel really screwed, I got he 4GB version for $500 bones and now I could have had double for $100 less.

The cost of technology I guess, it must move forward.

So how does the return policy work? i know she said 15 days when i got it at the APple Store. I was like um, ok, I don't plan on returning it. Now hell with that phone. If they won't give me that $200 back, there will be a problem.

I will be OK if they can give me a free AppleCare for iPhone, or at least a $100 Starbucks gift card. Drop $200 in 2 months is really hard to accept :(

What about iPhone buyers this morning? I'm seriously confused on how Apple is going to handle price matching after this event.... if at all.

Everyone here needs to get over it already. Its been said and done. Those of you who bought your iPhones before today... do you still like your iPhone? Yes, its a little bit of a let down from Apple. Lets face it though, Apple is a company, yes their business is making money, yes they have to answer to their shareholders always, yes they are probably going to sell more iPhones now.

WOW! Apple ***** Early Adopters!

I know technology marches forward, but what is with a 33% price decrease just two months after a product is launched??

I've bought a LOT of Apple products over the years, and yes, they ultimately become outdated, but two months after a launch? This will piss off EVERYONE who stood in line and helped build the hype for the iPhone.

I am rather pissed about Apple over the ringtone cost. Sure, $0.99 is nothing, however I don't see why I should pay more because I want to take content I already purchased, shorten it to 30 seconds and use it as a ring tone.

Apple, I have support iTunes for a long time ... I have purchased over $1000 in content, and I will continue to do so. However, I will *NOT* pay extra to have something converted to a ringtone. I will use the standard free method ... which is only a question of time before they make it even better so I can do it from iTunes for free.

Thats just being greedy.

This is why you always adopt the best model. especially when it's only $100 more at the time and a freakin' iPhone.

I personally wait for the first person announcing a class action lawsuit over this. Pricing is one thing, but there has to be someone who stands up to the "apple tax" and the "early adopter" tax.

Class action suites are pretty pointless for the consumer. They make money for the lawyers, but in the end you would be lucky to get a $25.00 iTunes card for your trouble.

I totally agree. Normally I would say that that's the price of progress, but this is a whole different animal. A $200 price drop after only 68 days is a bit extreme to simply chalk up as an "early adopter tax." I sincerely hope Apple plans to do something similar here to what they did for early Aperture buyers.

This year I purchased a MacBook Pro, iPhone, and I just purchased an iMac last week. For Apple to turn around and pull this price cut it a big F U to the people who were willing to be the guinea pigs for his new device. Steve Jobs is a PRICK for doing this only after 2 months.

I don't understand what there is to be disappointed at...Apple lowers prices and gives new functionality.

Granted, I'm not a ringtone user (a phone is supposed to *ring*, people!), but is $2 really that much compared to other ringtone services? Especially when you get to choose the part of the song you want to play? Doesn't AT&T charge about that much anyways? I honestly don't know, but it seemed about right to me.

And, I understand a slight frustration over the price change, particularly if you just bought the phone. But each one of us obviously thought the phone was worth $600, and subsequently will get $600 use out of the phone. I'm sorry, but I don't understand what the big deal is.

Never ever buy an Apple product before a special announcement. :(

Expect a 16 gig iPhone at MacWorld expo in January.

EXACTLY, its a fact of life early adopters get screwed over by price drops, you bought an iPhone 2 months before anyone else, you pay the price....

you people need to grow up.! This is about the iPod line mostly! I wanted an update too but so what. And the price drop, that's how it works. If you didn't wanna wait to get it then there's no one but yourself to blame!! Get over it.

this is Apple's first mobile phone, mobile phones drop in price. A lot. Early adopters of the iPhone basically paid $100 a month to have a cooler phone than anyone else. If it had been available in UK I would have done the same thing though....
