Bonus points if your iPad was on the "UPS Flight of Doom" where our iPads all seemed to be stuck in Korea. :) (I'm not talking about the usual stress of Apple global product tracking, if you were part of this shipment you know what I mean.)

I'm anticipating another night like that on the 23rd. (Assuming I can actually snag a delivery date of the 24th.)

Nah, went to the Apple Store on launch day and picked up the 16 GB model. Now these models are worth $50 :(

My coworkers all thought I was crazy when I brought mine in.

Then a few days later they all started trying to go to the local Apple store and pick one up. They were out of luck by then. :)

I was around, but didn't order online or anything. I was on the fence until about 3 days before launch, then resolved to just queue up for one at Bluewater.

Ahhh, the Flight of Doom, I remember it well. That was actually a really fun night on the forum, and yes, my shiny new iPad was on the UPS Flight of Doom.

I'm still on the fence with the Apple Watch - I figure that if it's not sold out when I get up at 3:30 A.M. tomorrow morning to go to the gym, I'll pull the trigger for an online order. If it's sold out, no big deal. I'm far more patient 5 years later after the iPad F.O.D.

That thread is still there, I went and dug it up recently when a friend was freaking out over his iPhone 6 shipping. I forgot someone designed us a Flight of Doom t-shirt logo. :)

I hear you, though. I'm somewhat excited about the Watch, but I was NUTS about the iPad. I was an early enthusiast for the tablet form-factor. The wait between pre-order and UPS guy nearly killed me.

I was also able to envision lots of real-world usage scenarios for myself, personally, with the iPad before it launched (and most of them ended up being realistic), but I'm not quite clear yet on what the Watch will do for me.

Was getting fed up waiting for the first iPad to arrive in New Zealand which was going to be several months after they were available in the US. So bought a 32GB Australian one. 19th July 2010..
Loved the first iPad but it was eventually given to a school for the younger kids. Now have a 256GB 10.5 iPP. :) along with all the other Apple gear..

I waited in line at my local apple store. Got the 32 GB one. I am not going to sell it. I want to keep it actually. Amazing how much the "it's just a big iphone" device has come along.

Nope. Wanted to wait for minimum 1280x800 resolution plus A4 with 256MB RAM sounded like it will be obsolete in one year to me not to mention few apps supporting the iPad.

Caved on the iPad 2 but it was rarely used aside from reading manga (and that required a bunch of pinch-zooming which was annoying). iPad 3 with retina was when the iPad started replacing my laptop for web browsing, etc.

I was!!!

My daughters went to Daytona somehow over Orlando, and the driver drove it over here after he finished his route. My 3G version wasn't obviously coming yet.

That was a fun time on the forum!!!!!! <3

(and, we traded it into Target for $200, but the cellular one we still have for a couple of uses)

I still have my 32GB iPad in my closet. I got in on launch day; my best friend had been waiting all day at an Apple Store, and I walked in to the one by my apartment and walked out 10 minutes later with my ipad :p I’ve been debating mounting it in my kitchen as a weather station.

The original iPad was the first Apple product that I ever totally lusted after. Didn't buy one--but I did get the iPhone 4 that year and bought an iPad 2 in 2011. I refused to buy an iPad until it had a front facing camera for Skype--they delivered that very next year.
