So who's convinced others to get one?

I've had my MBA for 2 weeks now and it's been a joy to use. Other than some minor things i've had to get used to, it has been a great experience. But with this comes gear envy of others and everyone that I've showed it to loves it - even 4 more people at work put a MBA on order...

Just like the iPod or iPhone, the MBA can be a game changer just because of its design. How many have convinced others to get a MBA?

i convinced my myself when it was launched at that princepoint with those specs that i would never buy one, and would be much better suitd with a standard macbook for 800 bucks less. After actually holding one and using one in person, i came to realize i didnt need the extra power for what i used my notebook for(already have a 20" alu imac) and the sheer beauty of the machine and trackpad gestures, along with the size and sexiness convinced me i had to have one. Lucky for me i was able to sell my macbook at a profit from what i got it for, and was able to snag an Air on the marketplace forums from a great seller named Shoulin333 for 1450 shipped!

I actually go out of my way not to recommend people buy the hardware they see me using. If someone says, "Wow, that's cool", I'm happy to answer their questions and such... but I will not try to convince them to get the same thing. If I did and they ended up disappointed, they might blame me, and that's not cool.

Also, you definitely shouldn't act like a Mac evangelist. I can speak from experience when I tell you that there are certain obnoxious Mac users who talk down to people and stick their noses up in the air when they talk to PC users. PC users *hate* that.

I have to admit, the machine has a certain magic to it. When I first heard the news of it, I had no like for it at all. I saw the thing in person and figured I'd never want it. But I have to say, for some reason, it's grown on me. I'm pleased to say I'll be buying one in a little while. I've just got this image of it sitting next to my Mac Pro... only a few more weeks to go until the big day.

That's a really great perspective. I, btw, don't act like a mac evangelist...I give people options when they have any questions since I am the pseudo-IT guy here. But they know that I know what I'm talking about...so they'll pretty much respect anything I have to say. I am gonna configure a kick ass PC for someone who needs it to run a library of PC software...of course, but offer them alternatives and in this case, Macs are a fantastic alternative!

I hope this post wasn't meant to be obnoxious - I just wanted to gage people's use of the MBA and how that related to others switching over.

I convinced my dad when I was still shopping for a laptop. His next computer will either be a iMac or a 17" MBP. He has not yet played with this computer, but I do know that he likes the idea of a Mac.

I agree with clayj. I don't try to convince anyone to buy anything. That way the blame doesn't come back to me. If they want it make them take the responsibility for it.

I've sold two MacBookAirs.

I didn't try to convince my friends, but the MBA's sold themselves pretty much, and I have been so pleased with the MBA so far--even with the minor quality hickups which thankfully are far less than typical Apple nowadays--that I have been very enthusiastic about it.

Yeah I felt the same way at first and also changed my mind after playing with an MBA in the store. I haven't got one yet, but I just returned my MB.
