at first I didnt think so,

but compared to the sheer number of people for iphone, even if there is 25% of the crowd, that will still be quite a few people.

also, believe it or not, not everyone has an iphone or ipod touch. For these people, this device will be verryyyyyyyyy appealing at $499.

so i do think there will be some lines, just not the crazy crazy lines.

well like me..i am tempted to buy this when it first comes out, but i know version 2 would be alot better...so its a tough call.

also 3G support doesnt come out until after the regular wifi..so that can maybe spread out the crowds.

I agree, I can't wait to get one. A few times a bought an Apple product a month later they came out with better version making me wish I waited, lol.

It's ok to buy the Rev A, because all those who hate the idea of it, will cave to peer pressure and end up buying your used machine you so can UPGRADE!! wohoo lol

I think you can bet on it. I plan on buying mine from apple.com and have it delivered on day 1, rather than going down to the store and standing in line for hours.

I am sure they will have some sort of pre-orders. I will be ordering mine from the Apple website the first day pre-orders become available.

Well for $41 a month you can own a $499 version for a year and get the 128GB version 2.

You honestly don't see the use for this device, do you? What is the iPhone, without the App Store? A phone.

Go and have a look at what the developers did for the iPhone, they turned it into a pocket computer.

You're telling me that in a couple months, when developers are showing off the apps they have developed for the iPad, that this is going to die off? You really need to think about it. In a years time, after the iPads App Store has fully come into its own, there is going to be some amazing software available for this device. It's a 10" Multi-Touch blank canvas for developers. Apple have created a new market, a touchscreen computer.

I see HUGE potential for this device. But, it's limited from what Apple is presenting. And, it's not a computer per say as a laptop or desktop. The OS is limited and restricted to what Apple will allow on it. So, if I wanted another browser I can't install it. I can't see Flash on the web (huge for me).

I think Apple needs to open up its devices to more options, very similar to the iPhone. If you recall many users jailbreak their iPhone? Why? Because it's too limited. Apple wants to control how people use their devices and I understand that, but (I strongly believe) the majority of that "control" is so people spend money with Apple. An example would be the iTunes store. Why must I pay for movies and TV shows via iTunes when I should be able to view it for free from hulu.com or other sites?

I hope, really do, that Apple opens up this device so the potential is available to developers. Right now it's not and I see it as a limited device that can't do anything of real value over my MacBook.

The Air didn't die away. It may not get a whole lot of buzz, but that doesn't mean it doesn't sell.

There's plenty of them floating around my office (hardware / software engineering). Mostly team leads, managers, and sales, i.e. people who move around the building and travel a lot that value the portability over needing raw power.

I suspect come April, I won't have to look very far to find a bunch of people in the office wandering around with iPads for one reason or another.
