iOS Social Media App

I want to create an app that can send messages to someone and then when they have received it delete it from the database. Any suggestions on how I could do this easiest?

Use Google's Firebase - easy to implement and real time

Depending on your experience level, you could also use XMPP. It's an awesome and extensive chat protocol but does require more in depth knowledge to use. I believe it's the backbone of iMessage and Google chat apps as well, at least they started out with it.
