Hello all. I don’t mean to make a big deal out of this, but my Messages app emoji icon all of a sudden looks like… well… blackface. Updated to iOS 15 but haven’t changed any settings intentionally.

Actually, it’s not just the messages app. It’s any time the kbd pops up.

I assume this happens on light mode on your phone and not dark mode? I just checked light mode and mine doesn't look like what you've posted so I assume it's a glitch, maybe restarting your device will fix it

Are we TRYING to find things to call racist now? It’s a smiley face in inverted greyscale to match the UI. That’s it.
It is a worrying trend which is landscaping today's society. The tough question that needs to be asked is why does the OP see it as 'blackface' and not the inverse colour of the emoji?

OP.
I feel your pain.
All those yellow face emoticons: They even put felines in yellow face!
And did you know, If you long press one of the humanoid emoticons, all ranges of negative representations of "other" people are exposed.

I hope you have recieved all the attention in this thread that you trolled for.
Have a good day.
