I just posted another thread regarding my iie, but I have been doing research on getting SAM to work on the computer. From what I know, it's possible, but it's messy due to the iie's 1-bit sound processor. I also know there was a special card to assist SAM that could be attached to the logic board, though they are very hard to find.

I really love voice synthesis technology and I'd love to find one/find some kind of alternative to it!

Does anyone have any advice as to how I could find one or some other kind of 8-bit sound card that would work with SAM? Is there a way I could somehow build one myself?

Way back when I was at school, the 'Electronics' class made their own SAM cards from a single sided home made PCB.

Other than some passive components there were only 3 ICs. Somewhere on this earth must be a PCB layout for it or a circuit diagram.

Some suppliers may be able to get an APPLE II prototyping card. A bare card with lots of holes and straight tracks you can cut.

Otherwise, there is the re-created card (with more modern components) which seems to be 'out of stock':

Take a look at the different designs, here:

I'm sure I've seen one on eBay recently, so keep an eye out. o_O ;)

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE RESOURCES!!! I'll keep me eyes peeled on Ebay, but I'm definitely going to look into building my own card myself as well. Might be a fun thing to work on in open tech club next semester!
