Looking for software that has easy to follow instructions on how to remove an object from one photo and place it on another photo. The only software I have is a standalone version of Lightroom 6 and Affinity Designer. I know LR doesn't do what I want, unless there is a plugin that can that I'm missing. I don't think Affinity Designer does it too. Most of the instructions I found online are for PhotoShop, something I don't want to rent. I did find Affinity Photo and Pixelmatr Pro but their instructions are a bit hard for me to follow e.g. Step 4 from here. Is there any other editing software other than the two above that can do what I want?

Gimp is free, but I don't know that it'll be any more user-friendly than Pixelmator (which functions similarly to Adobe Photoshop; I'd imagine Affinity is similar).
I think it's just a matter of practicing with the software. Step 4 that you cited deals with modifying the selection, so I take it you're having difficulty selecting the object that you want. There's a Wand tool in Pixelmator that does automatic selections, and while it's not 100% foolproof, I was really surprised at just how well it worked (and how much faster and easier it was than the standard lasso tool). If you already have Pixelmator, keep at it.

+1, also note that Step 4 is "optional", though no automatic selection method or tool (e.g. Lasso, Magic Wand, ...) are any better than "good", none are "excellent" much less "perfect".
There is an art, rather than science, to making good selections. The automatic tools can do adequately for many uses, but to achieve results that don't advertise the fact that editing and/or compositing has been done you need practice, skill, and a degree of artistic talent.
Plus remember, sometimes it is easier to select everything else EXCEPT what you want, then invert the selection to get the bit you want selected...
