software shutting down on screensaver

I use Mac OS X, 10.6.4 and am frustrated that when i log back in to my computer after it goes to screensaver, Logic, along with Microsoft Word will have automatically shut down and safari attempts shut-down too! the only programme that i currently use that doesn't close is iCal.

I spoke to Mac technical help but their solutions didn't solve this problem.

Anyone help???
