So, I have purchased a .us keyboard as I'm a developer the special signed are better placed etc then the Swedish ones.
But now I need to push opt+u then press o to make ö but I want to change that to opt+o instead. It's the Norwegian sign for ø there now and I'm not using that so.

is it and software that can help me do that?

You should change the keyboard layout in System Preferences. Use the US International-PC instead of US.

The International one will allow you to use the symbols combined directly, as we are used to do with accents. For instance, ö will be achieved by pressing and o after that.
