How do i upgrade my iMac A1224 (7.1), mid 2007 to max (Per Mactracker) macOS of 11.6? Currently have 10.6.8 installed and need to know the path of updates to 11.6. Tried hit and miss downloads but keep getting messages for update requirements. Have searched unsuccessfully.

If your iMac has 2 GB or more RAM, follow this link to download and install OS X El Capitan from the Mac App Store. If your iMac has only 1 GB, you'll need to install more RAM first.

Keep in mind that if your iMac still has the original mechanical hard drive, you will see slower performance after updating.
