Hi,

Somewhat noob so I apologise if this is a silly one...

Running 10.3.5 I run software update and select the latest security patch (or any combination of updates) and get the following error after typing in the admin password and agreeing to the T&C's...

Code:
The update "Security Update 2004-10-27" could not be verified and expanded correctly.

Make sure you have permission to write to /private/tmp/501/TemporaryItems/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate, then try again

I have run through disk utility with repair permissions but to no avail.

Is there an official GUI procedure or do I have to fix it via the console?

Thanks for any pointers,

Andrew.

Apologies, my fault. I've just realised this is the first time I've updated at work. Our firewall is rather harsh towards downloaded exe, zips and various other possibly executables.

Thanks for the effort though! Very quick!
