After re-installing my OS and restoring data, there is a software update for El Capitan public beta...

But I do not want the public beta. I used to be in public beta but I got out of it after the release. There's no option to get out of the public beta in the App Store preference pane probably because I already got out of it.
I am using El Captian 10.11.3; is this the latest version or no?
How do I skip updates?

The option is in your System Preferences/App Store pane.
"Your computer is set to receive beta software updates", then click "Change", and select "Do not show beta software updates."

I know that, but like I said, there is no option in App Store preference pane.

Follow the steps in that link to leave the beta program.
The update is clearly labeled as a beta.
You can decide to ignore it.

Or, activate your beta program again, then the choice to NOT get the beta software should reappear in your App Store pref pane.
Once you have made the choice to have updates NOT appear, then unenroll from the program again.

I know it's kind of a convoluted way to manage that, but it's not a lot different from the occasional tip that you see where you reinstall an app that you don't want, just so you can properly uninstall it!
Or, to toggle a setting on, then off again, when it did not seem to go off the first time.

If you enter the following code into Terminal, default software update operation should be restored:
Code:
sudo defaults delete /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate CatalogURL
This removes the preference that the beta software enrollment sets.
Also, repeating the beta enrollment process for your computer and then unenrolling your computer without installing the beta will resolve this.

Hey, guess what, the issue has resolved itself! The software update for public beta has turned into an update for itunes!
