Today I had a chance to sell my early 2008 (2.6 4 GB Ram 7200 rpm hard drive) which has the 8600 graphic card..I purchased Apple Care last year so the laptop is under warranty until Feb 2011. Thinking about buying the entry level pro with the 120 SSD since I really do not need the dual graphic.. what's you opinion? Would like to hear from the SSD owners since this would be my first...is it faster?

You'll probably notice a huge difference with the SSD. Out of curiosity, how much did you get for your Early 2008?
I think it depends on how much you multi task. When I first got my SSD it was on the weekend. The most I do outside of work is do some web surfing and listen to Itunes. The first 2 days I had it (Sat and Sun) I was kind of asking myself if it was a good idea to spend so much on a SSD. Basically I was thinking "yea, its cool that my MBP boots in 7 seconds, but was that worth 300 bucks...) I basicly had a little buyers remorse for about a week. Then I started giving the mac some heavy use and the SSD really started to shine...
Running Adobe dream weaver, then having to edit some pictures in photoshop, then back to dream weaver. then remote connection to my server at work, then Itunes, back to more photoshop. Everything was lightning fast. with the SSD and 4GB of ram I was all over the place with programs and it never gave me a hiccup and everything was blazing. This is when I was like "Damn, 300 well spent."
Moral of the story is, if you do nothing but surf the web and run Itunes, its probably not the best thing to spend your money on until SSDs come down in price. If you use a decent amount of programs at once and put ur Mac to good use, Get one!

Well... if someone is "doing nothing but surf the web and run Itunes", then the money spent on a MBP can also be seen as waste

How do you come to this conclusion? I think mac's are for anyone that wants a rock solid OS, not just for someone that runs tons of expensive software. As a matter of fact, I think its the ONLY thing to spend your money on if you are going to own a computer. But thats just how I feel.
By the way, the Ipad isnt a computer, its a toy...

lol at the last part and i agree fully with the first. i only surf the web, do some schoolwork, and itunes, and i would get a macbook pro for the awesome trackpad, awesome OS, awesome design, awesome screen, awesome portability, etc...
