Lots of AT&T stores have sold out around Virginia ... Tyson's apple store still had plenty and line was zippy

Good man for starting at $650 though instead of way higher. Even if it ends up going to $1000+, at least you started it reasonably. Most people don't. Noble.
While I was completing my purchase, the computers at the AT&T store crashed so while we waited for them to come back up, he mentioned that they had only gotten 40 and that it was the same for all of the other stores, including Apple stores.
I was about number 15 to get one. The line was about 70 people long. They had a police car there, I'm guessing they were afraid of any potentially angry people

The computer I was purchasing on crashed three times! Bloody annoying, but I was too busy on the demo iPhone to care. The thing was fit!
My local Apple store had a ton of stock, and a ton of buyers.

the at&t store i went to sold out barely 40 minutes after the doors opened. the folks working the store still didn't know how many they had gotten. all they knew was that they were gone.
My wife and I got in line at the Northshore Mall Apple Store at ten after six and walked out with iPhones in 30 minutes and they still had plenty of phones.
Oh yeah, when we left the store the line was almost gone. There were only four or five people still waiting to get in.

Just got back from the Mac Store in Palo Alto on University (Close to Steve Job's house) haha. And i picked up 2 @ 7:45PM. And when i looked at their stock behind one counter they had at least 100 4gb and 75 8gb just sitting out, so i'm sure they have more. I'm even wondering if they will sell out tonight or not.
I went to an AT&T store across the street from my office in downtown DC. At 6:15, there were roughly 50 people in line. They made it very clear that many of us would not be able to walk away with an iPhone but would be able to order them for direct shipment. However, they were doing a credit check on each customer, so the line was slow as molasses. At around 7:15, a couple of people got calls that the Clarendon Apple Store still had plenty of stock and very fast lines, so several of us hopped into cabs and headed over. I was in and out of the Apple Store in about 15 minutes.
Apple did a great job. I only hope other AT&T stores weren't as clueless as the one I was at.

I could not make it to a store to pick up the phone tonight so I ordered online. After seeing the 2-4 weeks for delivery I think I am going to try and get one in a store. Did your local AT&T store sell out of phones (8GB or bust)? I am currently on vacation in IN and thinking of heading down to the Ft. Wayne store if they have any tomorrow.

The AT&T store that was by my work sold out of 8GB iPods before I got in. Five minutes after I got in the 4GBs were gone.
