Since updating to Big Sur spotlight search for mails is broken on my system. Search always returns 0 results, no matter if I search from Mail.app's search field or via the Spotlight window. Already tried rebuilding mailboxes, deleting Envelope* files under ~/Library/Mail/V8/MailData and unchecking/checking Mail & Messages in the Spotlight system preferences.

Any tips? Thanks!

Edit: The issue was solved by manually re-sychronizing each and every one of my accounts. After that it took Spotlight a while to pick up the new information, now everything is back to normal.

Hi,

I'm having sort of related issues. Sometimes search in mail works perfectly. Other times it seems to "hang" or returns results that are seemingly unrelated. I can't tell if there's a pattern to when it works/doesn't work :/.

Info:
15" Macbook Pro, Late 2013
16GB Ram, 1TB SSD (at least 500GB free)
Big Sur, 11.01.

I have several inboxes configured, including IMAP (university email), Gmail, an exchange inbox, and two local inboxes holding archived mail from previous university accounts. I'll try resynchronizing the remote inboxes.

Thanks

My issue is that method of clicking the upper bar to get it to return to most resent emails at the top, is gone, so if you search a message, and view it from say, 2010, you have to manually go back to the most resent. All Apple apps have this sorting convenience, so this is a bug.
