Unable to get full UHD (3840 x2160) on a new LG- 43UD79 monitor.
Even though this is a 43" monitor System Report shows monitor as 27" LG with native 3840. I can ONLY get 1920 at 'default' setting in monitor preference pane, but I can scale up to 3360x1890.
If I set monitor to 'under scan' I can then scale up to 3780x2160 at either 30/60hz, which is also the new 'default' setting as far as OS thinks.
ANSWER: Setting LG monitor to 'underscan' to get a higher scale resolution prevents MacOS from ability to use 'option' when selecting 'scaled' to choose 3840.
Thank you LG customer support. Only thing they couldn't answer is that 3840 is scaled or 1:1 pixel ratio.
Hmmm.
I'm seriously liking this monitor for how much it has changed my workflow for the better.
