I use Safari in most instances, including while typing this. I have Chrome for its flash plug-in, as I have uninstalled flash from my computer and still there are websites that require flash (i.e. SoundClick) where the Safari > Develop > User Agent > iPad won't work to "fake" flash player.

What has really irritated me always about Chrome, it auto-updates its app icon when the browser updates. I use custom icons throughout my system, Chrome is no exception. It is simple to change icons using Yosemite but still it is irritating that I have to repeatedly redo so with Chrome.

What way is there, if any, to force Chrome to not change its app icon back to default when browser updates?

Right click on the Chrome app in Finder. Click 'show package contents'. Navigate to folder inside called Resources. In there you should find a file called 'app.icns'. Change it to any icon you want.

Then right-click on the new app.icns, and select 'Get Info'. Near the bottom of the window that pops up is a tick box for 'Locked'. Click it, and the Chrome updater will no longer have permission to change the icon file.
