Title: [Solved] Logitech C525 audio bug after macOS Tahoe update – fixed by changing output sample rate
Message:
Hi everyone,
A few hours after updating to macOS Tahoe, I suddenly lost audio from my old Logitech HD C525 webcam.
The camera was detected, the built-in mic showed up in settings, but no sound was coming through in apps (tested with ChatGPT and QuickTime, didn’t try others).
Context:
I wasn’t using any external sound card, only the integrated output of my Mac mini (internal speaker).
Symptoms:
The macOS audio pipeline got stuck right after the update.
Solution:
After that, I noticed I could set any sample rate and it would still work fine.
To be honest, maybe some people already knew this trick, and I might just be reinventing the wheel. But for me, it was really frustrating: even a full system reinstall didn’t solve the issue. After trying many things, only this very simple solution worked.
Since then, everything works normally with the C525.
Hope this helps others facing the same issue after updating.

Symptoms:
- Webcam detected.
- Mic listed in “Sound”.
- No usable audio signal.
The macOS audio pipeline got stuck right after the update.
Solution:
- Go to System Settings → Sound → Output.
- Select the output device (in my case: “Internal Speaker”).
- In Configure Format, change the sample rate (e.g. from 44.1 kHz → 48 kHz or 96 kHz).
After that, I noticed I could set any sample rate and it would still work fine.
