Hi all,

Specs:
cMP 4,1/5,1
Monterey 12.6.1 on SATA SSD
WIN10 on dumb NVME PCI-e adapter
OCLP 0.5.1
Sapphire Pulse RX6600XT
LED Cinema Display 24" (A1267)

After flashing the 6600 and installing it in the cMP, I cannot see the OCLP boot picker. OCLP is working since the cMP boots into Monterey. I tried reinstalling OCLP yet still cannot see the boot picker. My MVC RX580 shows the boot picker and allows booting to both MacOS and WIN10, yet after pulling the 580 the only video output on the 6600 happens after it starts to load one of the OSs.

I have tried all the ports, including HDMI with a different monitor, plus different DPI-MiniDPI adaptors.

Sorry if I overlooked a thread on this site that resolves my issue. The thread discussing the MVC 6600 did not address my issue.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Alex,

Thanks for your reply. I read the thread earlier today and see the OP did not find a solution and appears to have given up, so I assumed no fix could be found in the thread. I will try your suggestion, but with a more modern monitor than the two I tried earlier.

tsialex to the rescue again. SOLVED

Newer monitor, in this case on the HDMI port, and I have a clear boot picker.

Thanks as always!

24" Cinema Display have a non-standard/non-commonplace 1920x1200 screen resolution with EDID issues that is incompatible with MVC pre-boot configuration support or OC GOP support.
Remember the linked thread but from looking at a RefindPlus log recently shared by @gtackett in the MyBootMgr thread, https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/31712518, he is apparently running an MP51 with a flashed GPU that plays well with a 1920 x 1200 rez monitor.

Not sure why the outcome is different assuming the GPU flash was done by the same outfit and that it is the same monitor. The needed resolution is being picked up correctly by both the UGA and GOP instances present on the GPU.

The issue at play is not really the 1920x1200 resolution, while not exactly a very common one, I have a Samsung T240M 24" display with the same 1920x1200 that works perfectly with a MVC flashed Quadro K2000 or MVC flashed GT630 for pre-boot configuration, while the Cinema Display with the exact same resolution won't.

Also, the T240M display works with several other resolutions, almost everything that you can throw at it, while the Cinema Display won't.

Btw, there are two Apple displays with 1920x200, the Cinema Display 23" and the LED Cinema Display 24", I have the older one with a black blotch on the LCD, not really usable besides tests.

I see. Would be interesting to confirm the monitor being used by @gtackett.

I just dumpster dived my way to a battered but working 20" ACD. I have a flashed Titan X stashed somewhere I would test it on later.

I supposed is this one, from @gtackett SystemInformation report. Also, not a MVC flashed GPU.

1680x1050, also a non commonplace display resolution.

I assume the R9 280X does not support bootscreen OOB. The RP log shows the GPU is a UGA/GOP hybrid. This indicates flashing as "Officially" supported Mac GPUs seen so far are UGA only. Presumably self/other flashed due to some MVC signature that is missing in the report?

Tested as working with HD 5450 so far. Will do RX 580 and the Titan X later.

Btw, today I've found about displayplacer, both homebrew and MacPorts have it, it's a nice and free command line tool to show all the display modes available:

Code:

"Officially" supported Mac GPUs seen so far are UGA only.

Most AppleOEM GPUs have both UGA (for MacPro1,1 to 3,1) and AppleGOP (for MacPro4,1 to 5,1) EFI modules. Some of the oldest AppleOEM GPUs only have UGA, like the 7300GT.

Apple only abandoned AppleGOP with MacMini8,1, where any modern UEFI GOP GPU provides pre-boot configuration support with eGPUs.

Will check displayplacer later. Looks like a useful item in to have in the toolbox.

On the GPUs, so far, all those with native Mac EFI I have seen logs from, including the HD 5450 and HD 5770 from 2009/2010 are UGA only and all the UGA/GOP Hybrids I have seen so far have either been self flashed or flashed by MVC. Not a comprehensive dataset though.
