Not sure how I do it, but every so often I'll touch the screen (using a touch screen) and a large magnifying glass effect comes up...it does go off again after about 10 seconds but I'd like to turn it off permanently - can ti be done?

Just a wild guess:
Could there be some preference set in the "accessibility" pref pane that is causing this behavior?

If you're using a touch screen then it's not an Apple display. You may check the OSD settings to see if it's something there that you can turn off. What model display are you using?

Eyoyo - afaik it has no settings for that type of operation. Only the standard contrast, brightness etc etc

We are assuming you are using a Monterey Mac and a third-party monitor. Is that right? If so, what monitor (brand & model number). And what Mac? Intel or M1?

Is this happening when doing anything or when running some specific bit of software? Maybe it's specific software feature instead of an issue with Monterey or something in the Monitor controls?

It's hard to be helpful without tangible details. Be specific. Maybe even a screenshot could help.

M1 Mac Mini -I found the culprit - I run the Touch-Base drivers (which replaces all the touch options Apple so kindly removed from Monterey) and it has a two finger tap to bring up it's smart magnifier.

It was when Hobe wrote "specific bit of software" that the 'penny dropped' -

Thanks all. I'll mark this as solved.
